I was prescribed provera becuase I have PCOS and very long cycles and we are to start our first round of clomid and IUI this cycle...

So I took it for 10 days, starting on cd 33. I began spotting after the first dose. It was dark and thick, like "old blood" sorry if TMI. First sight of blood I called my RE's office and they said to wait for my full flow. So I continued on the 10 days with the spotting every day along with a bunch of other side effects. So here I am 3 days after stopping it and can't tell if it's my real period or not. It seems like the same kind of blood but more than would be considered spotting, a full tampon at times (again sorry if TMI). Has anyone else experienced this? I am to have a baseline ultrasound before starting clomid and I don't want to miss the window, so I am trying to figure out if this is my actual AF.

Thanks!

Provera confused me the first time I took it as well. I spotted for a day, then the next day I had a full flow, but it was very light. I called my doctor's office to schedule a day 3 ultrasound, and when I went in for that, I had a very heavy flow...more like a day one or two. I told the nurse this was my first time taking Provera and maybe I had jumped the gun, and she said not to worry. I'm from the school of ask tons of questions and it's better to be safe than sorry. If you go in, and they don't think you've started yet, that's better than missing the whole cycle and having to wait another month. Doctors understand this is difficult territory for us!! Good luck to you!!
