Do you have to sterilize the breast pump before every single use? I took it out of the box and boiled everything, however it created this awful white film on everything (maybe just my water or something?) but now I just want to wash it out with soap and water, would that be okay? I can still boil it like once every day but then I still have to wash it. Since it pumps right into the containers/bottles they're not going to be technically sterile.

I think as long as you keep it in the fridge between pumps then every day is fine.

I only sterilized before the first use. After that I've just washed with hot soapy water and I keep my parts in the fridge between pump sessions while I'm at work so I don't have to wash and take up more time each time.

Yep, what she said :) Hot soapy water once a day and keep in the fridge between pumps, (airtight container is good) wouldn't worry about boiling it. As my friend said to me once... "you don't sterilize your boobs do you?"

LOL I thought the same thing about sterilizing my boob.

Sometimes I just rinse mine I really hot water from the tap and store it in the fridge...

The nurse who taught me how to use the pump in the NICU told me to just wash out the parts with hot water and dawn dish soap before using it if its not sterilized, and after each use. No biggie.
