Hello ladies, it's been a while!

I posted here because the pets section doesn't really get much interest.

Me and my boyfriend got a new family puppy last week.
He's a 9 week old pomeranian x jack russel.

We want to train him properly, in every way.

We need tips! Or an amazing website if anyone can help.

Thanks in advance:flower:

try dog and puppy forums.. they are alright, look through other peoples threads though and see what people are like, i found people on there are very snotty, like they know things so all of a sudden they are experts, sometimes i want to tell them to piss off..

i have 3 dogs, all from puppies, my male and bitch had a litter of pups hense where the 3rd came from.. what sort of training tips are you after? im no expert, infact, far from it, but i managed to train mine, they arent perfect, but no dog is :) x

You could try and find out if you have a dog training centre near you. My dog is a chocolate lab x Dalmation and we got her when she was 7 weeks old and managed to train her our selfs. Shes now 6 and shes fine shes more of a plodder these days lol! I would recommend buying Victoria Stillwell books shes fab!. Im a member of a dog training center my girl does agility every Friday night we love it and its and great way to bond:thumbup:

Hi and congratulations on your new edition :) I have 5 dogs and my oh is a dog trainer .
I would reccomend going to good REWARD BASED training classes but here are a few important things to know about pups

Socialisation is essential - within the first 16 weeks the experiences your pup has will I print on him so its important to introduce him to many new people ans places and socialised dogs as possible .

Puppies physically cannot hold their wee for longer than 4 hours until they are about 6 months so set the alarm clock during the night to avoid accidents in the house . Bring him outside to wee / poo after every meal , after play , after he wakes up . Always give lots of praise when he goes and make a big fuss ! He will learn quickly that this pleases you .

Never ever use harsh punitive actions with your pup , positive reinforcement , reward the behaviour you want and ignore the behaviour you don't want . Like kids attention is attention!! So if you don't want him to jump up on people while greeting them turn your back if he does this , and make a big fuss of him if he offers you the behaviour you like such as a sit :)

Make sure the rules you want ie not allowed on the couch / bed are constantly enforced by everyone I the house from the begining . A dog can't understand today its ok to be on the couch as you have just had a bath but tommrow when you come in from the rain its not ???????!???? Makes no sense to them make the rules ans stick to them no exceptions

A dog needs a job to avoid destructive behaviour , plenty of exercise in varied places like you they get bored walking the same walk daily ! Offer some appropriate things they can chew on rather than your fab shoes etc .. Puppies teed just like babies so they need stuff to chew on .

Spend time calling them so they learn their name and lots of fuss when they come to you this will also teach good recall
