 hi girls

I've got an avent steam steriliser and I know on the front it says it's supposed to take 8-9 mins but mine is finished in literally 2 mins I'd guess. I bought it last year and used it for approx 3 months, now I'm using it again for this baby.

Just wondered if anyone else had this?

Thanks x

Hiya - is it full when you are turning on? If half full think it may be a quicker cycle?! x

hi i have the avent digital one and that takes about 6 mins but had that one for my daughter and used to be 8 mins, i would give them a ring because it sounds faulty x

Thanks girls.

I'm using it with anywhere between 2-6 bottles at a time but the cycle is still very short so today I've been doing it twice every time I use it. Will definitely give them a call as I'm sure it's not right.

Thanks for your replies x

Has it been descaled recently? does it definitely have the correct amount of water put in toe steam? I know if I put moe water than they say then it does a loner cycle

Mine sometimes takes a while, and sometimes doesn't! Bit strange isn't it lol!
I've noticed if I hold the button down longer it does seem to last longer.. but that could just be coincidence. Mine does really need to be descaled I think though!

Mine started doing that after about a year of usage. I assumed it had broken as there's no way it was getting to the right temp to sterilise in that short space of time.

I'm waiting for an e mail/call back from them, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks girls x

Any news? Mines doing this. I bought one and it sterilises for 2 minutes, so I replaced it and now this ones doing it.

I sent an email via the avent website and they offered me a replacement. Defo email them, it's the best customer service I've had for a long time. x

My SIL gave us her one which was about 2 years old and it did the same thing, i had no idea it was meant to take that long until i found the instruction book by that time we had already been using it for 2 months or so.
We decided to get a new one in the end and once we used the new one we could see the other one wasn't getting hot enough. The new one you have to leave to cool for a good 5 minutes because they come out boiling hot unlike the old one where you could pick them out straigh away with out burning yourself also we noticed the old one didn't have any steam coming out the vent holes as the new one did.
One trick we did have was to rest the milk tin on the button to keep it going for longer which worked!

We had the opposite problem, which was pretty scary and a fire hazard really!
But I called the helpline and they recommended to take it back to the shop, they were really nice.
