Queen Alexandra or St Richards hospital?? Please help. I'm thinking St Richards. Seems to have good reports.

Where are you in the world? I'm going to just suggest staying at home, because I can't recommend either! :haha:

If you mean in the Portsmouth area I have never been to St Richards but found QA lovely! Midwifes were very attentive and doctors put me right at ease

I'm in Gosport, didn't realise there was a St Richards around this area. QA I've hated for any other kind of treatment, very bad. However, never seen a midwife there so I don't know what that's like

Sorry, to clarify I mean QA in Portsmouth and St Richards in chichester. I live on Hayling Island and these are my options.

I had my princess at QA and found the staff to be fantastic :) very attentive and helpful :)

Of course, I cannot comment on St Richards..

Good luck and all the best hun :D

I work at QA so am a bit biased but i know what the facilities there are fantastic, have heard good things about St Richards too though! Have you thought about a birthing centre like the grange or blake? X

I went to blakes for a few appointments, it seems very clinical inside. If you're comfortable with that I can't see any problems.

Have you considered a homebirth? That's what I'm doing

Oh my word. I thought I only had a couple of options. There's sooo much more choice!! Overwhelming but great to hear it all. I'll look into the birthing centres. Don't know if I could do the home birthing though. Thanks for all your suggestions. 

There's also the mary rose which is the midwife led birthing unit at QA so if you wanted to be hospital based in case of complications but would be happy with midwife led care that could be perfect for you!

The Grange is amazing! I stayed there for a few days after the birth of my eldest (at St. Marys) and loved it so much I just had to have my 2 year old there (after oh said no to a home birth!)
My twins were delivered at QA though and that too was great, big but still friendly staff and so so clean.
Its hard when you have so many options....
good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

I gave birth in April 2011 at st riches and was zoo impressed with the care I received. The birthing centre was really relaxed and has a pool in each room. I gave birth in 2 hours of arriving and this was my first.

i'm in southampton so went to princess anne but a few friends went to QA and were very happy
