I was hoping to find a reason (as we all are) about what went wrong. I just got my results back and the chromosomes were normal. Of course the doc stated it doesn't mean that there was not something chromosomal wrong, but just for the items they checked for were not found. So...what now? Did anyone's doc say anything that gave you some solace? Did they recommend anything? This is my first mc (actually a mmc at 8 weeks) and praying it will be my last.

I know exactly how you feel. I've experienced three losses myself. Lots of :hugs: to you!

As to your question, doctors usually won't check into anything until you've had at least two or three losses. They will send you to a maternal fetal medicine specialist. This website tells about the kind of tests they perform: https://obgyn.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=200

However I would like to note that after having one miscarriage, your risk of having another isn't much different than if you never had one in the first place. Mine were from low progesterone and a uterine infection I had from a previous D&C that I didn't know about.

We plan to ttc again so my doctor has prepared me by putting me on a combination of vitamin b6 and baby aspirin to help balance out my hormones. I take 25 mg of vitamin b6 twice a day and 81 mg of baby aspirin once a day (any more than that risks bleeding during delivery). She also has me taking at least 400 mcg of folic acid, which helps prevent some embryotic problems. If I were you, I would start taking folic acid. You can take that with no problems because any excess your body takes in is just peed out. I would ask your doctor before taking the baby aspirin or vitamin b6 because hormone problems might not have been your issue.

Hey mdc,
Sorry about your loss.

I had the same results as you for my first mmc. Chromosome testing came out all ok. So no clue why we lost the baby at 11 weeks. I did get a really bad cough during those few days so I'm not sure if it was an infection? But no clue. No definite answers as well. So no further testing done.

Second mmc was a shocker since first didn't show any problems. Well, thank goodness, with this one we came back with a defect. So there was an answer. So no further testing done again.

Now onto my third pregnancy, so fingers crossed none of this and I get my rainbow. My doc did mention that sometimes with chromosome testing there is no real conclusive answer of what went wrong. Could be the heart stopped beating for whatever reason. That doesn't show up through chromosome testing.

Sorry I don't have a definite answer for you either.

Unfortunately, for most of us, there is no explanation as to why we have losses.

I had two losses, then a successful pregnancy and now a third loss. After lots of testing I still have no answers.

The only theory my doctor has been able to come up with is that eggs which would not normally fertilize for most women, do with me. I get pregnant very easily, I just lose most of the pregnancies.

It's hard to not have answers and there is no comfort I can give you. Just know that you are not alone and try to stay strong. Most likely your next pregnancy will be fine. Those of us with multiple losses are a minority.

First I am so sorry for your losses, it is such a terrible thing. Thank you ladies for your answers, and good to know that sometimes crappy things just happen even if we want/need answers. I will still have hope and am ready to start again. I just need to be positive and do what I can.

Sounds like you are on the right path. I wish you the best in your journey.

Hi I have the same exact story as you. I know you posted this 9 years ago I’m praying you are still on here and get this message. I’m curious to hear how you are doing and how the rest of your pregnancies went if you kept trying?
