Ok, I got prescribed Metformin back in 2005, and was on 1500mg a day for 2 months. I then got a BFP, but only for 4 days. The met was making me quite ill, so I came off it at that point and had a break. I saw the specialist at the hospital, in feb 2006, and was given clomid to start when I got my next period, but it was about 7 months later I got my next period and I had food poisoning.. hence I didn't start the tablets. *stupid person*. The next cycle came quick - about 32 days, so I decided to give it a go naturally *again, stupid person*. Anyways, the months went by, then we booked a holiday, and before I knew where I was it was september 07. At that point, I'd been ovulating every month for quite a while, so I started charting. Course, I then stopped ovulating. :( So, april this year came round and I saw my GP. She asked if I wanted to give the met another go, and said to increase the dosage slowly this time, and I wouldn't be so ill... I've done this, and ovulated, but now I'm off it because I've been poorly for 2 months and they think it may be that.

So! (congrats for reading this far. LOL) I woke up this morning feeling super peeved because now I'm not actively taking anything to help me ovulate.. and then I remembered I still had the clomid. So, I've got it out, it's still in date and stuff... so my question is... my doctor had no problem prescribing me the met again, because the specialist had before... I didn't need to go back to the hospital... so if I go back and tell her I want to try the clomid, and I have the pills already, will she be able to ok that? She doesn't need to prescribe it, she just needs to know I am on it.. I presume? Or will I need to go back to the specialist?

it's a dangerous drug to take if it's not prescribed properly as the risk of hyper stimulation. I think as a lot of time has passed it would be best to speak to your GP as the specialist prescribed this before she may be ok to prescribe it again - tell her the problems you've had on met and say you'd rather finally give clomid a go and is she ok to either give you a new prescription or to use your old one.
I'd definately get seen before started it if i were you as there are a lot of risks associated with it.

Yeah, I wouldn't just go back on it :) I was just wondering if she would have to refer me back to the specialist... I'm thinking not because it was prescribed before, but it might be they want to check me over. I don't know!

Thanks xx

u shud get cheacked again i know its a pain but be wprth it in the end....if they say yes to clomid, whos knows u might after wait a few wk to get ur script...but then u cuud start using ur own!! im in same position, having low estrogen,im aving the bloods taken again just 2 make sure then hopefully i'll see a gyne and things to getting a sticky bfp might come a little faster :)
good luck

Think you're best to get checked by your specialist. My gp wont take anything to do with my clomid as she says it's not her area of expertise! Least you've got it already tho. One reason to go back to specialist is that if you're not ovulating by yourself and haven't had a period for some time, they may have to give you drugs to start you bleeding. You start clomid on day 2 of a bleed. So if you see your specialist you might even get started quicker than if you were just to wait for a period naturally. Good luck xx

i agree...is it provera u get to kick start af? i know there is somat herbel aswell, and takin provera wudnt make af cum if u were pg in time uknow .....u shud maybe even change gp,one will litte more understanding as sometimes it takes a while2see a gyne doesnt it!?
wish u all the best:)

Well, I'm booked in to see my GP on thursday. I rang yesterday and she said she wants to see me before I start taking it. Hopefully AF will come October 16th as it should *fingers crossed* I'd prefer to avoid any other drugs! You never know, might get my :bfp: before then!
