My 3 yr old son had to have a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. For the 10-14 day recovery I had to do FMLA. Basically my sons doctor may/may not refuse to sign the FMLA papers, I won't find out till Monday. My son had his surgery today, so no matter what I have 10 days till I can go back to work, depending on how well he does and pain medicine. I am so frustrated and I don't know enough about any of it. Basically, if I don't get my FMLA papers signed, can I get fired for taking the 10 days off? I have plenty of sick leave and vacation time so that is not a concern...

That seems really strange, why wouldn't your son's doctor sign the FMLA papers?

Well, I am hoping he does but his nurse told me that he may not sign them.

I hope the doctor doesn't make this difficult for you :/

Thanks for replying ladies, he actually came through on the papers, thank god! My job has such a strict attendance policy so I was really worried for a minute!
