Hi , I have been formula feeding for about two and a half weeks prior to that I exclusively breast fed (14 weeks). My DD only takes around 20-25 oz per day which is way under the reccomended ammount on the carton for her weight and her age. She seems to take more at night than in the day, so far today she has only taken 8oz. She is having wet nappies and seems to be gaining weight (she did after the first week) I will be getting her weighed on monday.
I was just wondering if anyone else found their LO took less than expected when they stopped BF, I am feeling really bad that she may not be getting enough nutrition and I cant go back to BF as milk had dried up:cry::cry:

Hi, this sounds just like me!

I started combi feeding about 2 and half weeks ago too, only BF in morning and night, now I have cut all BF out... many issues...

Anyway, I was worried about how little my LO was taking to start with. Nowhere near the recommended, like yours. Everyone on here said that as long as she was weeing, pooing and happy then not a problem!

Now she is taking lots! Actually a bit above the recommended! Greedy girl.. Maybe it takes them a little while to get used to it??

I'm sure your LO will get the hang of it and as long as she's content then I would say she's fine too..

Ooh yes, this sounds like Emma! I exclusively breastfed her for 12 weeks and then gradually introduced formula. She has now been exclusively bottle fed for about 3-4 weeks. She is 14 pounds and only drinks 28-30oz per day. However, she is weeing and pooping, is gaining weight and reaching all her milestones, so I'm not too worried. I think the recommended 2.5 - 2.7 times their body weight is a guideline more than anything. All babies are different!

Ive been formula feeding for about a week now aswell (exclusive breastfed for 6wks) and hes only taking about 19oz a day....and small feeds, no more than 3oz at a time.
I mentioned it to the health visitor and she told me that babies who are formula fed from birth are used to the long lasting full up satisfied feeling because the formula takes longer to digest, whereas breastfed babies arent really used to that feeling (she wasnt saying that they dont get full just that their bellies dont feel as heavy). So when theyre introduced to formula they dont take huge feeds because they dont need that heavy feeling to be satisfied.

Now i could be completely wrong and i dont want to get shot down for giving wrong information...im just repeating what my HV told me xx

Thanks, That sounds reasonable to me, got her weighed yesterday and she is following her curve on the chart still so am happy and trying not to obsess over ounces and just feed till she is full I suppose,
