question for people with impact shield car seats

Hi all my oldest recently outgrew the height limit of his erf seat so he was switched to a forward facing impact shield seat

we do not have isofix in our car and according to the instructions you just put the car seat on the seat put kid in put impact shield on and fasten the car seat belt through the impact shield

but I am finding that each time I put my son in I am having to make sure the seat is in a very specific place on the actual seat otherwise it tips when we go round corners :/

is anyone else having this issue. . . I am fitting it exactly as the online video shows but it has to be in a very specific place or it tips

Hi not necessarily helpful but I don't have this problem. I have the Kiddy guardian pro - when I'd googled it before I bought it lots of people had said they had to strap it in when the were driving without their child to stop it tipping but i never had this problem. Is it tipping with your LO in it or just when it's empty? (I don't think it should do the 1st but the 2nd seems ot be quite common). I drive a golf so I don't know if I just got lucky and as it's made by a company which was in someway associated with VW (I forget how) it just fits my seats really well...

I have an impact shield car seat, it doesn't tip at all (Cybex Pallas). We drive a VW Passat CC and a Suzuki Grand Vitara & it doesn't budge at all with or without a child.

Are you pulling the seat belt as tight as it can go? I'm guessing it could be to do with shape of your seats?

We found this problem with the Cybex Pallas in our camper van though it was fine in the other cars. I think it just depends on the seat shape.

Tbh we stopped using it until Tom was heavy enough to use it as a booster seat without the impact shield. I found the cushion never fitted tightly enough however tight i pulled the belt and he'd slide forward behind it and then complain he wasn't comfy. Plus it rolled around all over the place in the campervan. It is much, much better without the impact shield - doesn't roll at all because the seat belt holds it lower down.

Forgot to mention, we had to remove the head rest in the Passat as the car seat felt a bit loose against it. Once it was removed, the car seat sat a lot better. We also have the non-slip leather seat protectors as well.

Also if the seat isn't fixed in with isofix then you should always fasten it in when empty so it doesn't fly forward and hit the front seats in a collision or sudden stop. This is the same for booster seats.
