Question for the Clomid Ladies

Hi

I was prescribed clomid by FS last week and will be starting it in July cycle as i'm having HSG in June cycle.

I just want to know what days everyone took their clomid on - my FS gave me a printout telling me to take it on CD1-5 and go for a scan between CD11-13 (preferrably CD12). What were you told and why? WHats the difference in taking it the different days and is there a better success rate with taking it at different times. I just want to clarify this before I start taking it (and i might even go back to speak to my DR and see if I can change days if you all think i should....)

Hi Reba. I was told to take it CD5-9. I don't think it had anything to do with my specific case, I think this is just typical protocol for my doctor. I've read the earlier you take it the more follicles are produced. The later you take it there may be fewer but better quality.

It seems like more girls in the States take it 5-9 and elsewhere take it earlier. That's just been my general observation.

lola is right. Earlier = more eggs and later = fewer but better quality.
I take mine days 2-6. I have only one clear fallopian tube so I guess the fs wanted me to have more eggs in the hope that I get at least one from my good side.

The earlier the better.. When I started CD5 (50mg) it didn't work at all, no mature follicles.. When I started CD2 and 100mg I had 2 mature follicles (but still no BFP). Starting Clomid again tomorrow, CD2 again.

I was told to take it CD 2-6 and have a scan at day 10 and 14 - it all depends on your situation I think.

Hi Reba, I started mine on CD 2 this cycle, and will take my last tomorrow. I also have one clear tube, so the more eggs the better I guess

hi i took clomid days 2-6 & on my 1st cycle of taking it they did follicular scanning on days 10 to see if the follicules were getting to a good size & then they repeated the scan on day 15 to check i had ovulated, which i had i conceived twins on my 4th cycle of clomid after ttc number 2 for 17 mths with only 1ovary that was polycystic. good luck clomid is def fab!!! x

I'm taking 50 mg on day three to seven. This is my second round. Last month, I went in for bloodwork and follicle tracking on day 14 and day 24.

Reba, what other girls have mentioned is perfectly right...if u take it earlier i produce more folliciles and if u start taking it from cd5-9 then u produce quality and lesser folliciles..

My doc advised me to take from cd2-6 and I have seen many ladies taking it either 2-6 or 3-7...I have researched it somewhere that the old docs ie say docs of 80s and 90s prescribe to take it from cd5-9...

young docs prefer 2-6 or 3-7... This is what I researched when I was about to take my first round of clomid..

Hope this helps...its actually based on ur situation...if u dont ovoluate on ur own I think u can take it earlier coz u produce more and the chances are also more for a given cycle..

Thanks Faith, My FS doc is telling me CD1-5 but I do ovulate on my own - Im wondering should I go to my regular Dr and ask what they think I should do? Or do you think 2-6 would just be as good ?? Im sure by being out by one day wont be make much of a difference?? Or maybe I should just go ahead with 1-5 and if no luck then nxt month change days??? I just do want to be wasting a cycle bu doing it 1-5 when 2-6 or 3-8 would be more beneficial!!!
