First of all, congratulations to you ladies~ :flow:

I have a question for you ladies as I got back from my follow-up appt with my Dr and now a bit confused.

I had a d&c on 7/31 and was told to wait for 4 weeks before we can BD! :)dohh: so long!! but other ladies in this forum said their doc told them 2 wks after d&c?)

As far as how long to wait before ttc, I was told three different things!

* I was told that I don't have to wait 'til I can ttc again
* I was told that I should wait for one cycle before ttc
* I was told that I should wait for at least 3 cycles before ttc as the chances of mc is increased if ttc right after mc

I'm confused  I've read/heard/told different stories.. and it is clearly different for everyone~ The first two I was told by PA, and that was when i was going through medication to help with mc. The third one is by a doc that performed d&c on me. Maybe that's why there's a difference? Perhaps I should wait longer because of d&c?

Wondering what your stories are~

I was also told different things, some told be after the bleeding, some said 1 cycle and some even 3 months ( which would never happen !! That's far to long to wait) Some doctors will say its so the lining of your uterus can thicken, others will say there is no proof that this happens and was told if you tell them your trying again straight away they wont scrap so much away. Some say it's because doctors can date your scan better and to be honest I didn't care about that reason either .

We waited till after the bleeding , and caught straight away, but I didn't suffer a hematoma which is when the lining from the uterus comes away slightly causing bleeding and cramps.. Sometimes it could take the egg with it but that didn't happen with me, but I did wonder if it's because my lining was weak after having the d&c.

I asked how many other girls TTC straight after and many had, with no problems at all, they all got told different advice too.

Xx

thanks ladykara~

yeah.. i dont' care too much for "dating" purposes either.

it can cause such confusion when different sources tell you different things. I was ready to try again ~4 weeks after the d&c up until the doc's visit yesterday (she told me to try after 3 cycles). And it certainly scared me when she said the reason is because the chances to mc is increased if ttc straight after d&c. I guess it is just to be "safe"?

few ladies here said their doc told them it's ok to BD after bleeding stopped, some said 2 weeks, and mine said 4! :dohh: and their doc said no need to wait for af, others said wait for 1 cycle, and mine said 3! :dohh: makes me wonder if I'm one of her "special cases". Because she did perform the d&c on me... and I guess she knows how it looks like?

Reading stories of women who ttc straight after and gone on to have healthy babies has been encouraging.

hi there. sorry for your loss.

my surgeon who did my D&C told me to wait one cycle....I was so overwhelmed I didnt ask why. He told us to wait 3 weeks to have sex after the D&C.

I did my own research, and this is what we did.

We did wait 3 weeks to have sex....but this was more schedulding than anything...i was comfortable with waiting only 2.....

We intended to wait one cycle to ttc....in the interim we werent preventing, but werent trying. As we waited for my period post D&C we found i was pregnant....currrently 13 weeks now!

When i first met with my OBGYN at 9 weeks, my first question was about not waiting. He said there was no medical concern what so ever with falling pregnant immediatly after a D&C -he said it simply meant that I ovulated.

this is my story, you have to do what is right for you, and what you would be comfotable with.

i was never scared about being pregnant right after the D&C....i figure if my body felt the environment was right to implant, it would, if not, it wouldnt.

wishing you the best

We were told to wait two weeks for BDing after my d&c in June. My Dr. said that it would not be harmful, though, if we started trying again after the two weeks were up. He said waiting one month was more for dating purposes. We did try that first month then after the two weeks but my body was still really screwed up and from what I saw on my temps I don't even think I ovulated that month.

However, my body was determined to get back to normal so even though my temps were screwed up my period did come one month later. We tried again the second month and were very happy when I became pregnant apparently the first month I ovulated after my d&c. I am glad I did not wait three months because then I would have missed my rainbow baby.

I just hope this time works out and it sticks. I am worried but hopeful this time.

I had a D&C on June 20th and I am now pregnant again.

Your body knows when to get pregnant again I'm sure of it xx

Hi lxb, are you any further on with when you think you'll try again? I'm so impatient and it's only been a week and a couple of days since my d&c, I seem to be getting broodier by the day! I'm tempted to NTNP this cycle and go for it properly next cycle. And like baby dreams says, if our bodies aren't ready it just won't happen and if they are ready, then it's celebration time!

extra dust for extra stickiness bean!

:dust: :dust: :dust:
:dust: :dust: :dust:

I've decided few days ago that I would wait one more cycle (which is around mid september). So today is CD10, and woke up with some poking pain on my lower right stomach, which I suspected that my body is gearing up for O because of the sticky/watery cm!

It has been 3 weeks after d&c (doc said nothing in hoo ha for 4 weeks), so I have one more week to go. Soo.... NOW, i'm so tempted to just jump on DH tonight! :haha: But at the same time.. I don't want to risk infection.. but I think 3 weeks and after an AF.. I should be fine, right?

I had a cup of coffee this morning... now feeling like it is slowing down O time. :haha:
