I have heard that you can still bleed in the beginning of pregnancy and mistake it for AF. Now, I have always really wanted to know how similar implantation bleeding and AF is? Is the flow the same, etc???
Well, I guess first, I had gotten pregnant when I was 16 - but lost the baby, and I found out firsthand that yes, it can seem like you're getting your AF even if your pregnant. I was a month longer ahead than what I had suspected because to me, I had gotten period the first month when I was actually pregnant. It seemed the same to me.
now since I have not received my BFP yet and my AF is due to arrive today, but, I thought I had IB on the 23rd of April. I never EVER spot between my AF, so to me, and this is not substantiated as of yet - so please don't take it as gospel - but I had brownish red discharge on my panties and just when I wiped - after that, I had no spotting or anything else further since then. So who knows...but there's all kinds of variations I've read. I think for all people it seems to be different and apparently it's rare supposedly to experience IB. I've read some women's accounts as it lasted for 2-3 days, and was pink or brown in color. Never red though like regular AF - it's supposed to be old blood (which is the brown color or pink because it's mixed w/CM). From what i've read it's supposed to be old because it can take a little bit of time for the whole implantation process to take place so the blood being shed at the time of IB is old as it finally expels from your body. I hope that helps..but as the poster stated above, maybe see what the others have experienced. As i'm still hoping to NOT get my AF over the next few days and then finally get my BFP. IF so, then that was my IB. IF not, just a mixup of some sort.
Good luck and lots of baby dust!
