Hello Everyone,

I am a graduate Clinical and Counseling Psychology graduate student researching Postpartum Depression. As part of my research project, I am developing a podcast and website on issues related to Postpartum Depression, baby blues, motherhood, etc.

I was wondering if anyone of you had any questions about these issues that you think would be important to answer. I won't use your username/any identifying information - all I would like to do with your questions is answer them using my research.

I am very passionate about this topic and interested to hear what you think. Thank you!

I hope this comes across the way I would like it to. I had a very difficult labour with my daughter which still haunts me to this day. I ended up with a 4th degree tear, incontinent (of both) required more surgery, then gallbladder packed in requiring several admissions to hospital (missed Los first christmas ) then more surgery. My GP was concerned with my mental health as I was physically and emotionally destroyed so was referred to a consultant. She arranged for me to speak to a councillor and I was to wait for the appointment. The appointment for the councillor was the same day as my planned surgery so I couldn't go. I requested another one and never ever received it. Despite going back to the GP I've got nowhere and my daughter is now 6 months old. I literally cry every single day, I've thought about packing my bags and leaving and have days of sheer hopelessness, other days I'm happy as ever! What I would like to know is, why is there so little belief in new mums having PND? I felt as if I as a nuisance and was told by my mw that it s early yet and I would get over it. It's very difficult going to health visitor as there are time constraints. I remember bawling my eyes out to the HV as I wasn't coping and she looked at her watch. So I got up and left. It has put my off having any more children now which is unfair.

Theresa
