I don't want a debate here or anything, I know some people don't ever give their baby cow's milk and that is fine but I plan to.
My LO is 13 months. She has always (besides some breastfeeding) had a milk based formula and she is fine with cheese and yogurt, etc. We began mixing her formula with milk a week before her first birthday and she did well with it. No constipation (though her bowel movements were slightly more solid in consistency) or diarrhea. The color of her bowels lightened a bit from the milk but I was assured by her pediatrician that this is normal. We continued mixing the formula with milk for a month, slowly decreasing the amount of formula and increasing the amount of milk. She did fine. When I finally made the switch to straight whole milk she had diarrhea 2 to 3 times a day but enough to leak out of the diaper. She was also a bit gassy which made her uncomfortable. Her doctor said that this is normal and occasionally it takes a little bit of time for their bodies to adjust.
I guess I'm looking for people with similar experiences and I just want to know if there is a light at the end of this diarrhea tunnel. I'd also love to get my daughter to drink from a sippy cup but she has refused. Any suggestions?
