A bit of information first.

My SIL is 39. She has PCOS. She has had 4 pregnancies, the fourth being now. All previous pregnancies ending in miscarriage. The first at 4 weeks, the second at 7 weeks, and the last at 17 weeks.

She had a doctor's appt Monday afternoon and was told all the ultrasound tech could see was a sac. (Remember she has PCOS, so her cycles are very irregular.) Her LMP was July 18th, she took a pregnancy test Sunday October 2nd and it was positive. Going by this she would be 12 weeks, techinally 9 weeks going by the day she conceived. It is possible since she has PCOS that she could have ovulated much later?

She got a call back from the doctor today and he said her HCG levels were 7,855. The ultrasound tech said the sac was measuring 5 weeks. Her doctor said her HCG levels were right on for being at the 5-6 week mark.

She is so very confused and scared. The dates don't match with the sac size or HCG levels.

One thing her doctor did say was with her HCG levels being that high for the "possible" weeks the sac is measuring is a very good sign.

Anyone had this happen to them? Anyone have any stories they would like to share?

For the sac and hcg levels to be indicating 5 ish weeks, I'd say looks very promising! Usually, from my own experience, if she were actually 12 weeks, the sac would look odd, like the shape of it would be almost like a partially deflated balloon. They would have told her if that was the case. So, Im guessing that she definately did ovulate later then she thinks. I wish her all the best! Please keep us updated!
