Hi ladies!
A week ago I was booked in for an induction. Went in to hospital at 5pm and settled in to my room. After an hour I was given the prostin gel and was 1cm dilated 50% effaced. Slowly felt cramps comingover the next few hours. Dh was kicked out at 8 pm and I tried to sleep through the cramping. The nurse gave me a very painful stretch and sweep to 'get things going'

By 12 am I was in a lot of pain so I buzzed the nurse and she gave me some panadol forte, sleeping tablets and anti nausea tablets ( forte makes me queasy!). I woke at around 3 am in agony - it felt like it came out of nowhere!

I immediately buzzed the nurse and asked for pain meds- she said pethadine was my only option.. I said yes please! Hurry!

Received the injection- the nurse said she would be right back..... About three minutes later I ran to the toilet and was violently ill and the pain was unbelievable.... Called the nurse again and said Somthing is happening!!!!
I need to go to delivery ward NOW! She made me get on the bed to be checked and said I was about 5-6cm and finally wheeled me off to the L&D ward... I quickly txt DH saying 'come now' I couldn't think straight with the pain and asked for an epidural...

By the time I got to my delivery suite I sank on to a bean bag beside the bed and moaned a cried for help ( midwife had left me). Everything from here was a blur but I know that I repeatedly asked for the epi- I was told the anesthetist was in an emergency but they would try to get him in soon... Somewhere around this time DH arrived to find me wailing in agony and huffing on gas and air ( which did nothing for the pain)
She checked me half an hour or so after arriving and she said I was 8 cm!! I knew then the epidural wasn't coming :-(
The midwives and DH convinced me to push through the pain as he was almost here....
I started getting the need to push and tried really hard, he was coming but it felt like forever- I was changing position every few minutes and the midwife said the best was on my back :-/ so a little more pushing and she decided he wasn't coming unless they gave me an episiotomy. I agreed and after a few more pushes he was out!!
He had his hands over his face which is why he wasn't going to fit :-0
So we now have a gorgeous baby boy! It's been a great week- big adjustment but he is amazing!!

congrats that gel is some strong stuff lol. with my 1st i had gel at 3pm by 4pm i was 10cm :haha:
