Quirky "Old Lady" Names!

I work with a Rosemaria, nn. Rose. I like "Rosie" better - my fav choice on your list. I'm not personally a fan of "old lady" names, but I do love Vivienne, nn. "Vivi."

Hmm... other suggestions: Hazel, Pearl, Matilda (nn. "Tillie"), Maggie, Millie, Sadie

Really like Hazel and Sadie!!

Mabel is my nans name, I'm trying to convince Dh to use it for our lo's middle name... Also Martha is becoming quite popular again.

Daisy...not keen on the others. How about Florence?

Irene? I don't really know any old ladies...my great grandma is called Edith but that is quite a hidious name really.

Alice, Cecilia, Georgina, Florence, Lucille, Annie, Elsie, Nellie, Lottie, Sadie, Cora, Leona, Eliza, Jean, Harriet...?

I like Olive best on your list but I like all the others too. Betsy would be nice as a short form of Elizabeth.

Ivy
Agnes
Iris
Sally
Gwendoline
Evangeline

Oh, I love Agnes with Aggie as the nickname! So cute!

I think Edith is lovely!

My grandparents names were Helen (not a fan, but I like Helena) Sadie and Adeline (she went by Addie). My great grandmother's name was Isabel. I thought about all of them when naming my LO. I didn't like Sadie as a first name at the time but I think it's a front runner for next time if I have a girl. I also really liked Adeline/Addie but my DH didn't. I think Isabel is pretty but I don't like the potential nicknames.

Love the 'old lady' name thing. I really love Stella for my next but DH isn't going for it. I also love....

Lottie, Agnes, Harriet, Rhoda, Della, Pearl, Opal, and Helen.

From your list I get a classic, maybe southern belle type feel, so my suggestions would be:
Caroline
Charlotte
Felicity
Georgia
Josephine
Magnolia
Savannah
Violet
Virginia

More old lady type names:
Adelaide
Beatrice
Blanche
Celia
Evelyn
Ruth
Vera
Viola
Vivian

Thank you ladies so much! Some great suggestions on here!

Yes, Southernbelle type thing is exactly what I'm going for! (I live in Alabama, lol) but I want a quirky feel as well. Hard to explain.

I really like Lottie BUT our last name begins with "L" so I want to avoid L names.

Very interested to hear what yall decide :)

After thinking for a second, from inspiration from your screen name, I think Briar could be really cool!

I considered Briar Rose for a second... But.. I have a "boy" name (Logan) and I hated it as a kid. I want my girls to have super girly names! Lol

A friend recently told me she's considering Jessamine (among a bunch of others), it's definitely becoming one of my favorites on her list :)

I think Briar is super girly. I LOVE it! How about Brielle if you like girly?

I know a 3 year old Briar and she is the most girly little girl ever, so it's hard for me to even picture it as a boys name!

Definitely Olive and Betsy are my favourites on your list. Olive because it's so cute but I think Betsy has that cool retro factor as well as old ladh name.

Here in the UK Rosie and Daisy are so popular at the moment, every other baby girl is one or the other. Old lady names are becoming more and more popular, I have started to see Olives and Betsys make an appearance, but still quite rare. If you're going more retro rather than just old lady, Marnie is coming back too. I love old lady names, I have a Harriet but that doesn't seem very southern belle to me lol x
