I've been at my current job for 8 years. It's the only job experience/background I have. It's all I know, and I'm miserable. I could just cry right now from the lousy few days I've had, and I'm tired of having these days (all too frequently).
I work in medical billing, which you'd think would be easy to find other similar jobs. I don't really want to go back into medical billing, but what choice do I have? I've search and searched, but can't find anything. I looked a couple of months ago, but couldn't look too seriously as LO was in the middle of going through a couple of surgeries. Now that she's through those as well as the follow ups, I have more freedom to look.
I really want to go back to school though. To do something I really want to do. I've always wanted to go into healthcare. I can't work and go to school part time, especially with LO. DH's job requires him to be on call, so that'd make it more difficult.
To survive on 1 income, plus daycare, mortage, etc. His employer doesn't offer health insurance (they only have a few employees so they don't have to). DH and LO are insured through my employer.
I did a benefit check online and we could possibly get child care assistance and LO on Medicaid - but then that'd still leave me and DH without insurance, but we'd have to have insurance and Obamacare looks to be through the roof. I feel like I'd be completely irresponsible to quit my job to go back to school even though it'd be better for us in the long run, if it didn't totally run us into the ground before then.
I feel completely trapped where I'm at, and I'm having a hard time dealing with that. I just don't even know what to do or who I could even talk to about finding a path that works for my situation and family.
Anyone else in this situation or anyone that has been in this situation and made it work?
