I have put the heating on and noticed some of the radiators aren't getting hot at all, even the pipes from the floor too the radiators are stone cold, any ideas??

They are switched on and I know if they are kinda half hot half cold they need bleeding but these are totally cold :(

Have you got a bleed key ? Give that a go and they should soon heat up. Or check the thermostat dial on the bottom of the radiator and make sure they are turned up. Did your boiler fire up ? Make sure the flame is on in the window.

or your wall thermostat if you have one - that might need adjusting.

i hear the boiler fire up as it goes with a boom! and the rest of the radiators come on, just 2 don't, the thermostat's on the radiators are turned too full but still not a thing, they are stone cold :(

will have too get hubby too find the bleed key but 1 is a ladder radiator in one of the bathroom's and not sure how you bleed them

I think with the bathroom radiators, they need to be bled from the bottom of the pipe closest to the floor - it will be the bit on the underside if that makes sense?

The same thing happened with our bedrrom radiator.
FIL came round and bled the system so it wasn't that. Then B-Gas came round to do a quote for a new boiler (over £3k after discount  ) and I mentioned the problem to them. Turned out that the thermostatic valve is knackered.
Take the valve off the radiator works just fine, valve on and it goes stone cold real quick. Something to do with the pin in the valve being stuck... FIL said we can get a replacement valve for a few quid from B&Q

could be a blockage too, but also one of the other things mentioned.

I know (as my husband is a BG engineer) that they have fixed price call outs. He is working away in teh house somewhere right now, but ill ask him what he thinks is wrong, may be simple, may not be x

Oh says its prob the TRVs sticking, they are the thermonstatic controls on your rads, take the heads off and free the pins and it will hopfully work.

the same thing happened to ours with the TRVs and the landlord told us to do what eternal said.
worked a treat ;)

glad you're all warm and toasty now!

Glad it worked, the benefits of being married to a BG engineer :D
