Well, I'm officially in the 13th week....and still very much elated that I get to be a mommy again! Just had some thoughts that not everyone understands....and I love being able to post them here .

First off, even though this is one of the least active sections on this site, I much prefer reading posts here than in any other section....maybe it's our maturity :haha:. I wish it were more active, but I check religiously...lol.

Second, I still feel like I am insanely exhausted. It's utterly AMAZING how MUCH I can sleep! My poor kids are living off cereal....I'm just useless by the time I get home from work. Have any of you all who've entered the 2nd trimester gotten a burst of energy yet....please tell me there's hope...lol.

We have our 18 week scan (which hopefully will indicate gender) scheduled for December 15th. I'm planning to take our oldest boys (16 & 15)--we'll probably let our autistic 12 year old skip out.....he just won't enjoy it. Have any of you taken older siblings to the later scan? Reactions good or bad????

We also got our NT results back---I was thrilled. Our odds for Downs went from 1:42 to 1:860; and the odds for other genetic abnormalities went to 1:10000:happydance:. We never really intended to do a CVS or amnio, but we for sure won't be doing either test now.

Well, thanks for listening to my ramblings...hope you ladies have a great week :D.

Tracy

Hello!

Congrats on hitting your 13th week mark! I wish I could say that I haven't been as exhausted as I was at 13w, but I am. Im sleeping a good 10 hrs a night, and still, exhausted. I thought from everything I read we are supposed to be full of energy during second tri but just doing a bit of housework or laundry leaves me spent. And forget about last week when I started to decorate little ones room - I spent the entire next day on the sofa!

I think your boys would certainly be thrilled at the prospect of going to your next scan, it is always exciting to see. Though I have no other children and hubby travels waay too much, my 73 yr old mom is always overjoyed to go - and amazed at the 'technology', because they didn't have scans when she was pregnant (you know, and she walked to school 2 miles in the rain and snow and so on....)

Your NT results are fabulous!!!! I know that we are always so nervous and contemplate amnios and CVS - but when all was said and done with my results my OB told me that my chances of miscarrying from an amnio were 10x greater than my odds for having a Downs baby so I think there's just so much hype with that. But we each need to do what we are comfy with.

Hope you have a great week as well!

Ill leave you with a pic of 2 of my furbabies who were catching some sun on their favorite bed! I cant wait to share pics of my human baby!

Great NT results! Congratulations!! And I agree, I wish this thread had a little more action BUT I love the people on it - positive, supportive.

I think it's a great idea to bring your kids.

I'm going to bring my 3.5 year old daughter to the 20 week scan as well. I'm hoping it makes her feel more involved in the pregnancy. And after seeing the baby, I hope it will help make it more real for her (a baby in mom's stomach is pretty abstract for a 3 year old). More importantly, I hope seeing the baby will help her form an attachment to her new sibling.

congrats on your results, brill, mine were 1; 135 for downs i was told by specialist that at 40 your risk is 1 in 100 the minute you walk through the door before they even scan you just due to your age! i was never going to do an amnio whatever they had been, this baby was so loved and wanted id have dealt with anything, what would be would be and i am so fortunate to have a healthy 5mth old x

i took my 10yr old daughter to my 20wk scan who sat and sobbed the whole way through ( she is a drama queen!) i thought it was because she was so touched by seeing the baby but it was because the sonographer has said it was a boy "i hate boys she cried, they are so mean and ive already got a brother and hes horrible, i just want a sister!!!! she was howling soo funny and she loves him to bits now! x

as for being tired i gave up work at 16wks as i just couldnt make it through the day i never felt so exhausted and used to nap for most of the day, now though 5mths into sleepless nights i really know what tired is! lol

I love the pictures of you furbabies!!! Absolutely adorable :). It's neat that you can enjoy the results with you mom....I'm sure she appreciates what technology has been able to accomplish over these past few years. I figure all this rest has to be good for our babies.....at least that's what I tell myself when I can't keep my eyes open! Take care :).

You'll have to let us know how she reacts :). I'm sure it will be priceless!! My older boys are lamenting that this baby will think of them more as uncles than brothers since they'll soon be leaving for college :nope:.

Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get my own drama queen this time...lol. I think my boys are really hoping for a sister! I'm wondering how long I'll be able to hold on at work.....it's great you were able to come home at 16 weeks. Hope the rest of your week is restful :).

Tracy,
I am guilty for not posting enough in this section but I love checking for any updates.
Your results are amazing - you must be so pleased and relieved.
I am still suffering with sickness on a daily basis despite being on diclectin. I have had to cut my hours at work as the nausea seems to hit about 3pm and the sickness starts soon after. I am waiting to 'blossom' but really doubting that will happen.
I go for my anomaly scan 22nd Nov and have decided to book a 3d/4d scan to take my children too when I am around 26 weeks. I never had the chance to do it with them and I thought they might appreciate it being in a casual setting - apparently you can even provide your own soundtrack! Lol
My wonderful sister in law is training to be a midwife and keeps telling me how healthy my baby must be....try telling me that when I look in the mirror every morning!!!!
It will be wonderful for your boys to have a little sister - but you know kids adapt to whatever we throw at them. in life!!
Thats my update for now - just posted a 17+ week bump in the other thread - sure its shrinking!!! Lol

Maple Leaf

I'm still puking at 19 weeks too honey. I'm losing so much weight that I do seem to be getting smaller even tho my bump is more pronounced! Also my scan is booked for November 23rd so we seem to have lots in common!
Like you, Tracey I'm still knackered but I'm unsure if that's cos I'm not eating or sleeping. I'm still working full time and it's just wearing me out but needs must! xxx

Ah, Suzi I feel your pain. I keep thinking positive...I must have rock hard abs underneath this bump...I won't have as much weight to lose after...unless I pile it all on over Christmas which is indeed possible..... Ha ha

We currently have one of each flavor, and have been wondering about finding out the sex of this one ( though my instinct and smaller size scream girl to me)
I wanted the surprise but as the scan approaches I keep changing my mind.! Are you going for the surprise? Keep us informed - sorry to hi-jack your thread Tracy! Lol
