Last night DS didn't want to go to bed. I still let him nurse to sleep so I was holding him but he was having none of it and screaming his head off. After maybe a half hour of back and forth with him, I decided we both needed a break. unwrapped him from his blanket and let him down. At this point I noticed his arms, legs, face and chest where covered in a rash. I'm pretty sure they were hives and I put it down to a stress rash as he had no fever, no other symptoms to note, and was happy to be able to play again. Fast forward to morning, the red had gone away bit you could still see some bumps. He's taken no notice to it. Still no fever and I read that hives can persist for a few days. Now this afternoon, I went to strap him into his car seat and noticed a new patch of hives on his leg. I can't see it being heat rash as he's not overly hot. He doesn't scratch at it at all or even seem to notice it at all. But now it's making me nervous because it's coming back. I've checked him twice for ticks, havnt noticed any bug bites. He hasn't had new foods, clothes, lotions, etc nor was notably upset before the new rash.

I'm thinking I'll bring him to the drs tomorrow if this persists but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

It's still persisting so I'm making him an appointment in the morning. He was happy all day but it's driving me crazy not knowing what's going on.

My dd has a similar rash. At one point it broke out in really bad hives. She is scratching. When the hives stayed for a couple of days I took her to the doctor. He said it's an allergic reaction but it's so difficult to tell from what. I suspect it's a change in washing powder. The doctor told me you can't do an allergy test before 5. If you have am allergy to something then it's likely to be passed on. Have you tried giving him antihistamine syrup to see if it helps at all?

From the picture looks like it could be a viral rash but not really that clear. I would take him to get checked out. I don't know why you were told they couldn't check for allergies till 5, my son was tested for egg allergy at 7 months after having a reaction to scrambled egg and it showed he is indeed allergic

They don't test before then because their immune systems aren't developed enough and it often shows up with false positives and lots of inaccuracies.

It's a reaction to the measles vaccine. Well, thats what they think at least because it's the right time frame (3-4 weeks after vaccine) and he has no other symptoms. They said just to keep an eye but that it should clear on it's own

My dd had this exact same thing. About 4 weeks after her mmr I noticed the same rash that started on her torso then spread to her face and limbs. The dr checked her out to be on the safe side but said it was just a side effect from the vaccine. It went after a few days.
