My son is on Aptimal pepti 1, we are weaning him on it and today I added another scoop, he is not a vomitty baby but today he has been sick everytime I have fed him and now he is just crying none stop, he won't take any solids or milk and is in a mess... I am currently pacing the house with this 19lb baby!!!!

I am desperate, do you think it is s reaction or maybe just a bug? He is slobbering alot but can't feel anything coming through in his gums. He is 20wks tomorrow. His naps have been short and I have given him so calprofen!

:hugs: I don't know if it's a reaction to the milk or not, sorry. Holly used to be on it and it didn't suit her, she mostly had digestive problems with it, and it probably caused her reflux. It takes a few weeks for LO to settle on a formula so keep with it. If you're concerned you could take him to the doctor or ring NHS direct.

could it be a reaction to the calprofen this is an anti inflamatory and can cause gastro intestinal reactions i speak from experience as I cant take anything like it never have been able too it gives me the most intense stomach pain :-/ perhaps try regular calpol for next dose instead of the calprofen :-/

I was going to say exactly the same as the above poster. Ibuprofen (calprofen) is a no-no for reflux babies as well as they already have a very sensitive gut and ibuprofen is very harsh and can make it worse.

Hope LO is better soon hun xx

Oh God now I feel awful!!!! After having it he calmed down and actually finished his solids. He was quiet and tired but a lot better...

He was ramming things in his mouth at an incredible rate and biting and growling alot, so not sure if he really is teething. I have seen no difference on the formula so may just knock it on the head and stick with what I know makes him happy.

I have never seen him like what he was like tonight and he has been very very pukey all day... I had to change twice. I have never known him to be so sick, he only really spits up but even that is rare.

Aptamil Pepti wouldn't make any difference until he is on it exclusively and has been for up to a week before you see a difference. It's for babies with a cow's milk protein intolerance so while they are still on a standard cow's milk based formula you won't see any difference at all as the cow's milk hasn't been eliminated from his diet.

I'm not sure why he'd be started at 20weeks though - it's really unusual to be started that late as normally if it's a cow's milk protein intolerance they have many symptoms from birth even if BF from dairy in the mothers milk. How long has he been on a normal formula?

Does he get any medication for silent reflux, does he usually seem in pain during or after feeds?

xx

He seems alot better today, he has been on this for 3wks, just but is not liking it very much. He is on meds for his SR and it seems to have been controlled; dosage has just been upped! I was dairy free when BF and then we swopped onto Aptimal 2 and he started to get very bad excema. I am not sure whether he was teething. His appetite is very small ATM. Once I gave him calprophen he was alot happier, thinking about it, it couldn't have been that as he was in such as state to make me think of giving it to him!
