Hello!

Has anyone's LO reacted to butternut squash? Tried my LO today and he was a bit sick a few hours after, has a rash and is very sleepy. Do I just wait for it to pass? x

A severe reaction would usually have happened by now. I expect it will pass. Has the rash got less? You should expect it to be gone by tomorrow.

However, if LO shows any other more severe symptoms then pop to the A and E dept.

Thank you, rash is on his face mainly, he has eczema anyway but these are slightly bigger lumps. Will keep an eye on him thank you x

it could be the heat as my dd has flared up badly. its very unusual to have a reaction to squash. i'd give it one more go in a few weeks before ruling it out. when ds got food allergy rash it was more swollen blotches than eczema spots xxx

My son had a reaction to squash when he first started eating baby food (rash around the mouth). His doctor said to stay away from it for a while, but that I could try it again later on. Which I did, and he didn't have any problems. Keep an eye on his butt for a red ring like rash, which could indicate a food allergy.

Thank you, he already has that rash as he is intolerant of cows milk protein. Will keep an eye out and will try introducing squash again in a month or so x
