REAL or FAKE???

Fake.

I'm against cutting down a living tree just so I can hang baubles and lights from it then toss it to the side when I'm finished with it. :nope:

If I had a wood-burning stove I might, because then the tree would serve a purpose (providing heat), but if it is purely for decoration I just can't justify it.

I love the fake trees because 1- they are way cleaner 2- I hate cutting down a tree for nothing other then to put decorations on it and 3- Less maintenance
Although I love the smell of real trees.

I have had both over the years. Now fake is more practical, with the exception of storage!

This year I may go big cheese and have it look very fake... all white! or pink, doubt oh would like that

We got a fake one a few years ago from John Lewis and its a really good fake! Only time we had real trees was when we lived in the states x

Absolutely definitely fake!!! The last time my parents got a real tree, years and years ago, there were little squirmy bugs in the surrounding carpet from it! blecchhh! Even if that's not common I will NOT take the chance. Eeewwww. Besides, the fake tree is a one-time expense :)

We have a real one, but it's in a pot so we take it outside during the year and drag the beastling inside at christmas - hate hanging the baubles on a real one though - OUCH!!

I have a fake tree... but I love real trees.... The only reason I switched to fake is because I worry about fires...and I always feel bad about cutting down a live tree to let it die... One year I bot a potted tree and decorated it then planted it. That was fun.

I have a fake which I got half price but was still expensive (about £100) It is lovely and looks good. I do like real and love the smell when you walk in the room, but needles get everywhere and the cats always tried to climb them.

I prefer real trees cos they smell lush but really cant stand the mess so have used a fake tree the last few years, I also love to make sure the tree is perfectly decorated and symmetrical  which is impossible with a real tree lol!

I love seeing a "real" tree all dressed but we don't have the room and don't want the mess to go with it! My parents used to get real 1s and the pine leaves used to be everywhere! My fake tree looks lovely every year :)

I love real trees but mostly when they still have roots and are in the ground. We have a fake one. Even though most Christmas trees aer sustainably managed and the plastic of a fake on is bad the one we have we've had for a few years and will keep for ever probably. Ideally we'd live in a nice house in a nice area with some fir in the garden and put outdoor lights on them.

We usually get a fake one every year, however we are just moving this weekend so will have more space, and all our LO's are big enough not to wanna eat pines we will be getting a real one :happydance: and a little fake one for their bedrooms :happydance:

Fake, or a tree with roots.

I hate the idea of millions of trees getting cut down just to stand in someone's home for a month then being chucked out.

I also don't like having to hoover all the time with a real tree.

Real every year! We always go for a very low needle drop one and there's not that much mess. I love having a real tree! We did have a fake when we first moved out but after a couple of years, decided to go real and haven't looked back since, I love it :D x

I hate real trees. They never look right and mine always end up mangy and skanky plus you get fricking needles everywhere. Last year I did the ultimate in thinking ahead and bought a new fake tree (ours was a 15 year old family relic!) in the sales. Is a black tinsel tree and will look great with my multi coloured nafferama decs!!!

I did not realise so many people would be against real trees!! I agree though, they can be hard to get 'right' (something my dad failed to do every year when he would always come home with something that resembled a stick he found lying in the road )

That is what we do...although its not really a 'stove' but a chiminea in the garden!! we cut our tree up from last year and have only just got through the last of it!!

Any suggestions on where to buy a proper decent real looking fake tree?? without re-mortgaging the house

Our tree came from Wilkos and ws about £15 but I think it's looks great!
