Seth has really really nasty nappy rash :( Not sure how he's got it, think it's just to do with teething. I change him all the time (probably far too often), use water and cotton wool (only use wipes when Im out) and we've been putting bepanthen on him.

Every tiem we change his nappy if we have to wipe him he screams. Really really screams. And if you hold him and his bum rests on your arm he screams too :( It looks really swollen and sore :( Just cant work out how its so bad, it was quite bad before he got his last couple of teeth but no where near this, it never made him cry :(

Any suggestions? He's had an hour of nappy free time today which Im going to make a regular thing and his nappy is a lot looser than normal just not sure if theres anything else to try?

Also we got some timodine for thrush he had around his bum a few weeks ago but i wasnt sure if we're allowed to use this? or calpol?

I feel so sorry for him :(

maddi has just been getting over what i thought was bad nappy rash honey, turns out it was thrush, might be worth a pop along to your doc. also i did use capol for her and she was in pain with it bless her. sounds like you're doing all the right things so could well be thrush. big big :hugs: for seth, hope he feels better soon x

You should pop up to the doctors and see what they suggest. Although Grace had bad nappy rash one time and I found sudocrem and bepanthen were useless so I used this stuff called Metanium and it worked wonders! You can get it from Boots x

yep we've used that, really good! just watch as it stains your clothes x

I was just going to post about nappy rash. Meadows isnt that bad but i just cant seem to shift it. Sudocrem is crap.

Oh the poor wee thing, you haven't changed brand of nappies or wipes have you? My other DD was allergic to Huggies wipes.

Other than that, Metanium is always good and using talc to dry their bums after you have used wipes or after a bath xxxx

Thanks for the replies :)

IOt cpuld be thrush although he's just got over a case of it recently and it looked different it was more of like a rash? like spotty, where as this looks like its just swollen skin and raised, looks like what I get when I get excema just bnot as dry if that makes sense?

Ill defo have a look for that cream tomorrow, worked out ages ago that sudocrem is useless but bepanthen has always been fine. Ill get some of that stuff tomorrow :)

Also the nappies thing is interesting - he came home from nursery with some pull ups the other day and they were morrisons own ones I think, and at home we use pampers or asda. I have VERY sensitive skin, and he has always had a bit of excema on his legs so could well be something to do with that.

I think best thing is to get him along to the docs I suppose, Poor little thing is never away from them!

Tom had really bad nappy rash in the first few months of his life.. we found giving him plenty of nappy free time and vaseline helped alot, :)

Are you feeding him people food now? If so, it could be from that. I gave Bella too much pineapple one day and she had HORRIBLE rash from it. She can't anymore of that for a long time!

Colton got a really bad rash once when he had diarhhea. It was like you described.. he was screaming in pain when we wiped him, he didn't want us holding him under his bum, he kept waking up in the night in pain, and was even going poo in the middle of the night!

We found the only thing that worked was A&D Ointment.. I dont know if you would be able to find it, but it was amazing.. after like a week of him with that rash, it disappeared in like two days.. the first day the redness went away, but he still had a bit of raw area where we had to keep wiping him (he was pooing like 10+ times a day!!!), and that was gone the 2-3rd day! It really was like a miracle! I swear by the stuff now and if he even starts to look red I put some on!!

I used Bepanthen on Jasper when he had an awful rash - I'd gone through all the other brands I could find until a friend gave it to me when I was at her place and she changed his nappy - she was shocked, I felt a little embarressed that it had gotten so bad (his skin was peeling and red, it was awful)

The bepanthen fixed up all the open sores in a couple of days and the redness in a week.

I've also had good luck with Triple Cream, it is a medicated cream...not sure if they have it in the UK. Liam has one now, actually, from diarrhea as well. I also just got this Aveeno soothing bath stuff and it seems to be helping, he likes it and isn't fighting me, so that is good. I feel so bad for these little guys :(

Dec always get bad nappy rash when he is teething, but the last bout he got was dreadful, he screamed when I touched his bottom, his little body would go stiff when I was changing him and his bottom bled a little, it turned out to be dried apples that caused it, he loves raisins so we tried the new boxes in Tesco's with the little pieces of dried apples in them and the apples didnt agree with him at all. I had to phone the doc because nothing would work at all, he prescribed me Timodine and it was wonderful, after the second use his bottom was back to normal. Good luck hun, hope you find something that works. xx

We have timodine at home which we got for his thrush but I wasnt sure if he was alowed to have it for nappy rash. Although it does say you can use it on dry skin I suppose.

He had a poo in the night too which is very unusual for him, he usually stays dry most of the night.

Cant think of anything he's had different to eat, and he's never really had a lot of baby food, just pretty much whatever Matt and I eat, and at nursery he gets real food too *shrugs*

Got a Drs appointment on Thursday.
