Really concerned

I have an ingrown toenail (TMI) that's been hurting me for a couple years and I always cleared it up with hydrogen peroxide no problem. Well my doctor told me the other day if it doesn't get better he'll put me on antibiotics. Well I was doing some research and apparently sometimes ingrown toenail can cause blood poisoning!! I'm so scared now I don't even want to go to bed.

Do you think this will hurt the baby? I don't even want to wait till Monday now to call, I'm SOOOO worried that it will cause damage to the baby because it's slightly infected.

I wouldnt worry too much, blood poisoning is very serious and if you had it you would have known about it by now, just make an appointment with your GP tomorrow morning to get it rechecked

If the doc was at all concerned he would tell you hun- you DEF do not have blood poisoning or anything leading up to that. Septicemia (sp?) is caused by very, very serious infections and if you had anything that extreme the doctor would have you on an iv by now (I've had MRSA a lot this past year and had to get loooooooads of IVs to get me better)

I think that would only be in very severe cases hun, im sure it'll be fine
i had my big toenail ingrown at the sides (the nail was too wide for the toe), and they offered to cut the sides away, it hurt but i have no problems with it now and it was getting infected up to every month which wasnt good as i was constantly on atibiotics! Maby u could ask to be reffered to the special foot people (i dont remember what there called )

The best thing to do is get a bowl of water and add some salt (a bit messy but yeah) and put your feet in for a bit, which will keep it clean and reduce the chance of it going infected.

Aw thanks so much. Yeah that's what happened, my nail was digging into my toe. It hurts so extremely bad. And I've had it so long. I called the on-call and she told me to just soak my foot 3 times a day in hot water and not touch it. She also said it's not going to hurt the baby I feel better now
