I've probably spent the last 45 mins in the loo trying to do a poo. It took about 40 mins, but I finally did one. I was so uncomfortable before, and when I finally managed to get one out (still feels like there's more to come out, but I couldn't bear it) I went to wipe my bottom and there was a lot of blod. Not just a little amount, but quite a bit - like if you had a bloody nose and you blew your nose. I'm worried I've done myself some real damage, but I was so uncomfortable I just had to go. I really really pushed it out, and it was very painful - sorry this is way TMI & so gross! So embarassing! Anyways, now my bottom is so sore when I'm trying to sit down on a regular seat I'm not quite sure what I should do. I'm worried I'm going to have terrible piles now. Is there anything that I can do to ease the pain?

Hey hun I feel for you - I had piles a few weeks ago because I also pushed it all out!!! I aslo had blood - as long as the blood def came from your bum and not your girly parts then don't worry it probabley just means you have a pile or piles now :-( Buy some analsol and don't sit down - try to lay down as much as poss...sorry that's all the advice I got unless you can bear putting some frozen peas down there which helped me a bit!

Hey, sorry i don't have any advice but didn't want to read and run.

Also noticed we're both 29+2 =] and both boys!! :cloud9:

Hope you get an answer :hugs:

You need to visit your gp right away - you must clear the blockage and it sounds like you need hemmeriod cream too.

No more straining or you will do yourself some real harm! I the meantime drink loads of orange juice, eats loads of nuts & seeds & dried fruit and stay away from white carbs. Drink like you have never drank before!

It is really really really common to get constipation and piles at this stage but you must do everything you can to stop it getting worse. Dont be embarrassed to tell the doc the true extent of it so he can make sure you get the right meds. You need something fast acting to clear it and something like fibrogel to prevent it happening again.

Good luck!

I had piles few wks ago and i couldnt even lay down comfortably, i got anusol and also witch hazel to shrink them x

aww i know how u feel luv i have felt like this for weeks. sometimes worry am gonna end up giving birth lol. buy some lactulose from the chemist, its a natural sweet liquid that keeps your bowel movements regular. i remember giving it to my baby when he was constipated. x

Thanks everyone. I drank 2 big glasses of water and felt the sudden urge to go again. This time success without having to push like I was in labour. I got rid of quite a lot, which was obviously the reason for my discomfort. There was still a bit of blood, but not nearly as much as when I went earlier. My bum however is still pretty sore. I can't nip out to the pharmacy for a bit, but in the meantime would a hot bath help at all? How long will the piles take to heal and go away

Oh bless you...I feel your pain ... was in similar situation last week!

I used witch hazel and spoke to the midwife today who said its fine to use anusol for relief too.

Started eating bran flakes daily and prune juice twice a day and sooooo much better now....I was dreading going to the loo. but it has been fine.... Hope you feel better soon x

If the piles go away, they may reappear after the birth.
