im really sorry if im posting too much, i always find things i need to ask!

so, itchy legs? has anyone else had this or is it just me?
it is driving me INSANE!
since about 8 weeks pregnant i have had really itchy legs, just the bottom halves, below my knees, why cant i think what those damn things are called? LOL!
im now 15 weeks and really fed up with it, it is driving me crazy. i was told to stop taking piriton when i found out i was pregnant, so i havent taken anything to try to stop the itching, and the urge is just SO bad ive actually made my legs bleed a few times due to really long nails...

could there be a reason for this itching, is it pregnancy associated, or am i just a weirdo? :dohh:

Yes! I itch all over, but especially my legs. I keep moisturizer next to the bed (I use Eucerin calming cream) and apply it when I wake up at night. But I've read that this can definitely be a symptom.

I've scratched until I've bled, too!

ME TOO!!!! my legs have itched like crazy since bout 8 weeks also, I am tearing the shins off myself, moisturiser is all I'm using but they still itch, my right leg is the worst, my nipples itch just as bad :(

possibly it's PUPPPs. I had that HORRENDOUSLY in my first pregnancy. I had to sit in baths of cold water to try and relieve it, and I'd wake up 10 times every night and have to go into the bathroom to splash cold water on them .
The cold (either water, or indeed just something cold) on them helped a lot, but as soon as they started warming up again, it was back to itching like mad.

Eventually, very very near the end of my pregnancy, a doctor prescribed me something that helped, but honestly I haven't the foggiest idea what it was. It was a tablet that I had to take, I know that much.

Go and talk to your GP about it

(oh and the bottom of your leg is your shin ;) )

coconut oil completely gets rid of it for me. It's amazing, and you don't need to use much.

I've been having that same issue. My legs itch like crazy. I don't know what it is. They just itch, especially the underside of my knees.

Have just been sat here watching tv and scratching my poor legs to pieces! So yeah, you're not the only one. And it is pregnancy related, but I can't remember what they call it.

It could be cholestasis, if you want to get blood work done for that to check.

I know how you feel!! It was suggested to me to try Gold Bond Extra Strength medicated lotion (green bottle, not gold), and it has done WONDERS for the itch. And a single application in the morning after my shower usually lasts all day. My legs are much happier!!

Yep i have the severe itching especially on my lower legs (have also made them bleed a few times) Was at its worst at 15/16wks felt like there was bugs crawling under my skin!!! also worse at night were i would have to take my jeans off to relieve the itching. This is my forth pregnancy never had it with my 3girls but there will be a 16yr age gap so might be due to my age, the fact this is a boy both or just a coincidence!!!
Would love to know what causes it.

Yes!! I get this in bouts, it'll be really bad for a few days and then calm down. I also get it on the top of my feet, my left foot is raw at the moment where I've over scratched :dohh:

Moisturiser helps a bit, as does keeping them cool (heat seems to make the itch worse).

I thought it was just me?!! I am literally scratching myself to pieces. my legs are covered in bruises. wearing long trousers/tops and scratching through clothes stops you drawing blood, but on the flip side I get worse bruising now :(

I've moisturised until I can moisturise no more. low strength steroid cream can help, although the benefit needs to outweigh risk to the baby. I look like I've been beaten up at the moment, so I need to go back to the doctor :( hubs is concerned people will think it's him!!

thanks for the cold bath/water tip
kinda glad I am not alone with this.

Mine get really itchy too, particularly the soles of my feet. Hubby thinks I'm weird cause I always want him to scratch my feet in the evenings! And sorry to say so ladies, but it only got worse the further along I got with Eva, along with being unable to sleep well at night because of leg discomfort and cramps! And this time round I've also developed a varicose vein too! I can't even blame excess weight gain, as I've only put on a couple of pounds so far! :growlmad:

Hi!!! prob nothing to worry about at all but all the reading I've done suggests that if the itch is in the soles of your feet or the palms of your hands then it could be cholestasis a prob with the liver, maybe it's worth getting looked at!!! but the again google is the devil and it is prob nothing but normal pregnancy symptoms :( sorry if this is upsetting

Mine have been itching like crazy. Lotion doesn't help. I'm going to try coconut oil as suggested.

I have this too but also an itchy back and bump. Mention it to your MW. Mine said it could be just hormones and completely normal but took bloods for cholestasis just in case.

Mines on my thighs, across my left breast, and my armpits. It's horrendous. I've had bouts of mild psoriasis on my hands before, so I've been using a goats milk and camomile lotion that I used to use on that. It helps, but only for short periods!! Wakes me up at least 4 times a night!! My sil is 38 weeks and been diagnosed with PUPPS but they didn't prescribe anything to her :( my mw also said its probably just hormones x
