my partner has been sanctioned for failing to attended a mandatory work interview, the reason he didnt attend it is because he received no letter for it. All of a sudden we are punished for a failure/breakdown in communication from the work programmes side. The date the jobcentre have got is also wrong for when he was meant to attend, and he hasnt attended two meetings of which he had no notification/letter for. Its a joint claim and I have a young daughter to bring up. Im really worried, we have appealed the decision, and awaiting to hear back and he has also got the person from the work programme to sign it as they have said no contact is made. my council tax and housing benefit is also in jepoardy. does anyone have any advise of what I can do while Im waiting 14 days to find out whats happening? Its getting me down and tommorow is only day 4. I have spoke to cab and they dont have much advice until they can see whats happening with the appeal, but they are definetly picking on innocent and vulnerable people this new programme, its very unfair and communication should be more effective, now my OH just asks for his next appointment letter when hes there due to the mistakes and incompetence of either that company or royal mail.

I really hate the job centre. they are not helpful at all. I had problems when I was on jsa and I had to await a letter. it didn't take 14 days like they said so maybe you'll get lucky and have an answer sooner. I think you got a pretty valid reason but so did I for my problem but I still lost my jsa.

the system is terrible right now, all these new changes, some of the stories I saw online last night I couldnt believe what I was reading or seeing very unfair, it says if the appeal isnt successful you have to keep reappealing, and if eventually its unsuccessful you can apply for a hardship payment but that is half of jsa now. they have said to phone in a week to see whats happening. sorry to hear you lost your jsa, did you claim anything when you lost your jsa?

no thankfully I got a job when they stopped it so I had no problems - but I didn't have a kid or rent to worry about so it didn't matter so much if I didn't get the job anyway.

hope you get it sorted, keep pestering them - not your fault you didn't receive anything.

They were in the wrong so you should get your money back next time you sign on, same thing happened to my brother a few weeks ago. Hope you get a letter soon, he didn't have to wait long for his xx

While waiting for the Job centre, put together a letter to housing benefits stating what your current income is and the situation with the JSA. They will pay your housing and benefit while the problems are going through as long as you state what your current income is. Dont worry about getting council tax bills either, all bills will be suspended whilst the problems with the job centre exist, just make sure you let them know :flower:
