Recovery experiences after c section

I hope this doesn't sound daft, but my scar is kind of hidden under a still flabby tum. The only way for it to get air would be for me to lie flat and gently lift.

Are any of you in the same boat?

I am bathing it with cotton wool and taking baths. Can't wait for tum to reduce a bit more to make it easier!!

Mine was like that at first, my tum seems to have gone down a lot in the last week though. I still can't see my scar properly without a mirror and even then I have to lift my tum slightly. Lying flat I can just about see it now though. Think it's normal for most women.

Yes I need a mirror to view the scar. Lifting my tum is also a bit uncomfortable too. One week down now, let's hope things get better soon.

I'm two weeks post c section now and managed to get an infection and a slight split in my scar coz i did too much too soon so make sure you take it easy babylou. It will get better soon.

Will do thanks. I've not been out yet so the most I've done is get in or out of bed, on or off the sofa, feeding, nappies and have a bath. Craving a walk though. What do you think caused you to get an infection? I hope you take it steady and get well soon.
Xxx

I'm not sure what caused it, could have been clothing irritating it and causing me to sweat maybe, coz I've been having really bad hormonal night sweats but still have to wear knickers all the time coz still losing blood and wearing maternity pads.
Thankfully it's looking and feeling much better today.

Yes, I had the flap too! It would constantly sweat under there. To prevent infection, I would put rubbing alcohol on a soft disposable cloth and rub under there. I healed up very well with no issues. I still have a little bit of a flap but I am working on that! :)

Ive got the flab to lol but im over weight anyways. Ive lost a stone (14lbs) so far but i really need to stop eating junk lol..

Ohh bailey contractions were mega sore to. I was holding tight onto the hospital bed where i was checked out lol..

Wow cant believe paige is 3 weeks now. My scar is starting to scab over like when you cut yourself and its scabs up pulling skin together lol. Its a bit sore and i find i still need to be careful to. when i walk to fast or to far is hurts. I wash it as much as i can to lol. xxx

Mines feeling much better too cherrybump. I can bend over properly now yay!!

It just hurts a little when I bend too much or twist to one side a little but I'm hoping soon I can get out and about a bit more. I really miss driving!!

are you able to sleep ok on your sides yet?

I can just manage it but my neck hurts due to my pillows being all plump up lol. I tried taking some away but it was awkward. x

Yeah I can just about sleep on my right side, for some reason it feels more awkward on my left, but I still need a pillow under my knees so that I don't feel like my stomach is being stretched out too flat, if that makes sense!!

Omg i have that trouble to on my right side :| lol. If i lay to long on my left my back goes a little sore to :(. xx

My hip still goes sore lol, was hoping that would disappear now I'm no longer pregnant! I have to say though that even after having a c section I sleep more comfortably than I did when I was pregnant!

lol at least your able to get a good sleep now lol. I can just get comfy i had a good sleep last night finally fixed my bed and all the pillows even shifted the cot again hahaha lol xxx

Sleeping is a nightmare. Especially when getting in and out of bed to feed and change lo.

Are any of you ladies still taking pain relief? I have finished the course of medication the hospital sent home with me. Just feel a tad sore still.

The hospital sent me home with some severe pain medication. Lasted 5 days. I called them and let them know I needed more painkillers because OTC pain meds were not cutting it when I rain out of the pain meds they gave me after the hospital. They were not able to give me more "severe" pain medicine, but gave me "moderate" pain medicine. I took that for another 4-5 days, in combination with OTC pain meds (doctor okay'd switching back and forth). Usually OTC pain meds worked in the day, but by late afternoon/evening, I needed the RX stuff. Eventually I was able to not take any meds during the day, and take OTC stuff at night.

After about 10 days I stopped taking the dihydracodeine I was given at the hospital but I had been phasing it out with ibuprofen for 2 days before. Now I'm still taking ibuprofen and paracetamol once or twice a day each, it all depends how much I do as sometimes I overdo it and need the painkillers more, like today, I walked to Asda on Monday and went out yesterday too so now I'm in more pain this morning!

Reading this I realise what an easy time I had with my recovery. I was up and out of bed within a few hours I stopped taking any pain relief after 4 days and my scar healed perfectly. As my Dr put it I was a prime example of a text book recovery.

pretty sure you can go to your doctor and ask them for some more to. I was told tihs from my midwife. Also i was more or less just taking paracetamol and ibuprofen which i took right up to a week after i was home. Im in no pain now its just my scar healing up that hurts every now and then xx

Managed a whole day without pain relief. :) might need to take some tomorrow though as I've done a bit of walking today.

Are you ladies breast feeding? So far so good for me and lo. Although she's had a mad feeding day today.
