I've just had my third miscarriage

I guess I'll be allowed testing now but what does it involve? Is it just the GP running a few blood tests or do you get referred to someone who you can give a case history to and they dictate what tests you have?

What kind of things do the test for?

Any help greatly received xx

Hi hun, so sorry for your loss. I am on my 4th miscarriage and am under a specialist who has carried out thorough testing and scans. I'm now on progesterone, steroids clomid and aspirin although my tests came back ok I have only one working tube. I hope you get this looked in to. Xx

First off, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know what it's like because I've had many losses too.

Second, in answer to your question of what to expect, it depends on two things-1 where you live and 2. who you end up seeing. Testing options vary depending on where you live-the UK for example has a much more in-depth set of tests than they have in the US-as well as if you are seen by a regular doctor, an OB/GYN, or a specialist. It may also depend on when your miscarriages occurred and what happened with them. (for example, several chemical pregnancies can signal a progesterone deficiency while later miscarriages can be caused by clotting issues.) I see you are in the UK so I know you have a whole host of options available but unfortunately, I'm in the US so I can't help much with that. I do know there are several ladies from the UK on the Recurrent Miscarriage Thread in the Miscarriage Support Forum who could probably point you in the right direction and answer your questions better.

Good luck and hopefully you get your rainbow baby soon!

Sorry for your loss :hugs:

I'm in the UK, after my 3rd loss I was referred to gynaecology. I have had a series of blood tests done by them for various things. 6 weeks down the line I'm still waiting for my results. I think they will decide what steps to take next after they get those back.

Good Luck!

Thank you,

How long was it from referral to where you are now? I don't really know what I'm letting myself in for time wise. Is it a month or 2 or 6 months+!?!

Are you going back to see them at some point or are you in limbo land?

We got in in about 2 weeks. Had my last loss on 6th and had our first appointment at the hospital on 21st.
