Anyone have experience with RRL tea? My midwife recommended it to me, I'm 37+2. She said I could drink as much as I would like and it will help to tone my uterus and make contractions more effective when the time comes. I drank one mug full last night and a little while later had horrific period type pains in my lower belly as well as lower back pain and increased braxton hicks. I'm not sure if it was the tea or just a coincidence? Or maybe the period pains are normal at this point?

If it matters, I had an appt yesterday and she checked my cervix. She said my cervix has moved forward completely and a lot closer than last week, not dilated but she could feel baby's head right there.

Sounds like you're pretty close anyways - RLT won't cause things, just help them be more effective when they happen. Having your cervix checked can actually get things going, so that could have been it - and if baby is engaged, it sounds like things are moving along. Good luck mama!

Try another mug of tea on another day and see if you get the cramping again, if you do, maybe give it a miss. Not everyone can tolerate everything. My gf had horrific heartburn from mint tea. It's hard to pinpoint these things unless you get a repeat since we're in such a precarious state right now. All the best xx

Thank you both!

I was kind of disappointed I wasn't dilated yet. She checked me last week as well. She did say my cervix was easier to reach and she couldn't feel his head last week so I suppose that's progress. I just would rather not go overdue as I am supposed to be maid of honor in my friends wedding on 9/4. :/ Hoping to make it.

I think it was more to do with the examination, than the tea.

Whatme, I hadn't thought about that. I had an examination last week as well though and didn't have the cramping. I'm sipping another mug full now to see if it happens again.

I'm a ftm if you can't tell so all this is very new and exciting for me :D
