Red wine to induce labour?

Well I only had half the glass but had a very nice evening with good food, cake and trashy tv.

I don't think the midwives/hospital would judge you considering the guidelines where we are state 1-2 units a week is ok.

I imagine they have to deal with a lot worse than a desperate overdue woman who drank half a glass of wine lol.

Don't know but it'd be interesting to go to hospital in labor, tipsy with alcohol on the breath and see what they say lol

I'm sorry but this is a bit ridiculous, you're not going to be tipsy from one glass of wine!!! No offence, but you're not even as far along as this lady so you don't really know what you'll be willing to try when you are

Thought red wine relaxes u? Not that that's a bad thing just don't see how it would induce labor

That wasn't aimed at anyone, further than me or not, I didn't name names, but over 4 pages several people made jokes that they hadn't drunk in so long they'd be tipsy after one glass.
I apologize you didn't see this as the light humour it was intended as, or if for some reason thought this was aimed directly at you.

I guess when you want to meet LO you'll try near enough anything! I'm already impatient, wondering when to start on the curries ;) lol - Hope you get to meet your LO soon! x x x

Well it didn't work for me, just gave me really bad heartburn that kept me up all night.. It was worth a try though.. Going to buy a birthing ball tomorrow and see if that works haha xx

I've given up lol!!

Just gonna let it happen and give up all these old wives tales :)

To be fair I was getting fairly tipsy on the half glass which Is why I stopped, I must admit the fajitas and wine gave me heartburn but I get it anyway lol!

No more wine for me...it did relax me but didn't cause anything.

The birthing ball is my last attempt, but honestly don't think it will work lol.. Have u had any signs yet? Xx

Nope! Officially 4 days late and not even a twinge, not a hint of mucus plug...absoloutley nothing lol x

Nope, nothing out of the ordinary lol.. Oh well at least we tried haha. Just have 2 wait it out now xx

I've been warned by many people to stay away from castor oil as it can cause explosive diarrohea (I suck at spelling) when you're pushing.
Red wine is meant to be good for you anyway isn't it?
I don't see any harm in the occasional glass.
(Although when I made coq au vin for my OH he ended up getting a whole bottle of wine thrown in with the chicken as I wasn't too sure whether to havea smalll glass back then).

I have a long standing joke that OH has to bring me in a bottle of wine and a straw and once the cord has been clamped hand it over - I'd love to see the midwife's face if I really did!:haha:

Yeah castor oil can cause you to have a sicky/pooey labour. also increases chance of baby having meconium in the waters/or on the way out or something? I think it distresses them.

I won't drink anymore and haven't drank throughout...but I don't feel at all bad for having half a glass lol! x

I'd be sneaking a hip flask in for after if I wasn't breastfeeding wahh

It's not a problem - you have to play the breastfeeding drinking game! My midwife said if you have a drink while you're feeding it won't have time to get into the milk then and by the time of next feed it will have gone! Every time the baby feeds, have a drink! :happydance:
