Hi just after a bit of advice

Hubby has just been put at risk of redundancy - he has been there about 10 years and is 43 so will get a little redunancy money.

Question is, will he be able to claim JSA as I work, I earn approx 32k im not sure how it all works now.

Thanks x

Yes, he should be able to claim JSA, but it will contribution based rather than income based. Meaning that as long as he has payed national insurance for the last two years then he will get about £67 a week for a max of 6 months. You won't be entitled to claim income based as your joint income is too large. I know all this as I am in the same boat, I was made redundant half way through my maternity leave - but we only get contribution based JSA due to me OHs salary.

With contribution based you don't get all the other freebees, such as free dentist, prescriptions etc.. that you get with income based.
