I have been referred by Glasgow GP for a lap. I have my appointment at the end of the month and don't know what to expect.

Is this just a chat to find out about my history? It mentions nothing on the letter about the general aesthetic and I would imagine if it was the appointment for he lap I would need someone with me??

Can anyone advise?

I had a laparoscopy back in 2009 when I was being treated for a bad smear. I had several appointments with the surgeon/consultant before the procedure took place. When I had the actual appointment for the surgery, there is no confusing what was happening as I had very strict instructions about not eating, drinking, clothes to bring, and ensuring I had transport etc. It also said an overnight bag was essential as there was a possibility of me staying over (thankfully this did not happen!).

I would assume the consultant would deceide whether or not you need a laparoscopy and not your GP? However, I notice your in Scotland so that could be different from England.

I would contact the person who wrote the letter and get the full story as to what is going on.

Thanks, going to do that Monday. I pretty much though the letter would need to be very clear and it wasn't.
