My Daughter has been diagnosed with 'silent reflux' & the health visitor recommended I change her from aptamil first to aptamil comfort

She also was prescibed ranitidine from the doctor

She seems alot better, however, only poops every 3 days & im just wondering....Is this the best formula for her?

Which formula do you feed your LO's with reflux? :baby:

SMA Staydown and no meds.
What is Ranitidine? is that Gaviscon or a thickener because they cant be used with Staydown...x

We had prescription formula Enfamil Ar, we tried comfort milk but it hd no effect, although ive read quite alot of people have good reviews. Id say the comfort milk will be good for her infrequent bowel movements though x

Katerina was very constipated on Aptamil Comfort. Doctor changed it to Nutramigen as he suspects lactose intolerance. Now she has a No2 every morning :-). He said it was the milk causing her constipation.

Also worth checking if its an effect of the medication? I know gaviscon is not good for constipation, maybe its the same for ranitidine?

After trying many formulas, we switched to Soy Formula.. it helped a lot. Nolan has always been very regular with his poos!

Does she strain when she poos? Does it seem to hurt her? If not I would not be too concerned :flower:

Sorry, should have said....Although she only poops every 3 days, when she goes, its very loose (& lots of it!)

Thankyou for all your replies :flower:

P.S Ranitidine is a little like gaviscon, yeah

Id stick with the comfort. And Ranitidine is nothing like gaviscon. Gaviscon thickens the milk and Ranitidine stops some of the acid being produced, they both have very different jobs x

mm If its loose then I doubt the she is constipated? Some babies just don't need to go more often! I guess less dirty nappies for you is not that bad? :haha:

Stay down, ranitidine and domperidone for us. Then the meds lost effect so its stay down and losec now

Hi, we use Ranitidine (.33ml x 3 a day), Domperidone (2.1ml x 4 a day) and SMA staydown milk.

Tried using aptimil with gaviscon infant and domperidone - that made him constipated
Tried using sma with ranitidine and domperidone - that did not work

getting better with what we are using atm, but not brilliant xx
