Emma has had a bottle - formula or EBM - since she was about 2 weeks old. So she is used to them.

I have recently moved from Aptamil to HIPP - and she was fine during the switch, and happily took the HIPP formula.
Then last night, all of a sudden she started refusing the bottle. I mean REALLY refusing it. She kept smacking the thing out of OH's hand.

So I ended up breast feeding her, but it hurt like hell and well, I dont think she got much but she had workd herself up so much that she fell asleep after a few mins.

This morning as usual she was breastfed in the morning, as she always has been. But when I went to give her a bottle she again went nuclear. She will take it in her mouth, and she will chew it and move it with her tongue whilst crying. Then she will bite down on it and glare at me, and just hang on to the bottle if I try to remove it. Then she howls again.

Thing is that in the past 3 days her latch when breastfeeding has been really really shallow. Noy like before.

I dunno what to do. I dont want her to get dehydrated :(

maybe she has thrush? when aiden rufused bottles all of a sudden it was because he had thrush and it was too sore for him too suck x

I just tried her with Sugar water, as also had no poos for 4 days............and she went to town on that so no problem with sucking.

I am thinking that he was just humouring me before with the HIPP formula, and now its a total change over she doest want to play ball. So going to get OH to get some aptamil and a few cartons so I can confirm my suspicions.

lol bless her, makes me wonder sometimes if kids know what they are doing when they confuse us! glad she is okay though xx

Alex done this from last wed, he would suck 2oz fine then go mad and completely refuse to have any more would push it out the lot.

we spoke to the health visitor and she said he could be teething, so far nothings made a difference apart from when he is asleep you can sort of dream feed him fine

just got his amber necklace this morning so hopefully that will help too

maybe ring your health visitor before she goes off for the weekend see what she says x

Hi, what teat are you using? I had a horrible day on Tuesday of Ruby refusing bottles, I tried the next stage teat and she's fine now. She was just frustrated by the slow flow of milk. Maybe the sugar water is thinner and flows quicker than milk so there wasn't a prob with that. Also about her smacking the bottle out of OH's hands, Ruby does this too, but at that age babies don't know their hands are a part of them so they're not doing it deliberately.

well, i was using the med flow as she sucks like crazy at the slow, but the vari flow is tooo much for her. i changed it to a slow flow and she was happy sucking away. she was obv in a slow feed sucky chewy mood.

my friend also suggested teething. well she has been drooling a lot for the pastt week.

Maybe she randomly wasn't that hungry. Last night I left Ruby with my mum and she and similar experience to yours with Ruby refusing the bottle and crying, but she went to sleep and took the next one fine.
