Chase turned 7 months yesterday and I was taken aback a bit by the milestones of some other babies who were the same age. It got to me a bit, actually.

However, remembering my first two children, their milestones were way different in terms of months of age. Amanda was quicker than Jayden at many milestones, but eventually, they both did things and on their own time.

We have to remember that each baby is different and each baby does things on their own time. Please don't be alarmed because one baby does something at one stage, yet yours isn't.

I guess, I have to remind myself of this factor too. :)

Yeah I sometimes doubt my parenting thinking im not doing something right and he should be doing more , but your so right each baby is diff !

good post sweetie :D yep maddi just does things in her own time, she is a joy to watch, and develops in her own time :D

 Was wondering yesterday if you were concerned over this. Honestly from the pics I've seen of Chase he looks sooooooo laid back which is probably a big part of the reason he hasn't hit some of the milestones yet. You are right all babies are different and though Hannah has done things fairly quickly there are times I wish she hadn't and been more laid back!!

That's what I was doing yesterday. Yet, thank goodness I had other children and knew that they do develop differently.

However, I can see a first time parent really doubting their parenting or their baby's development if they didn't have the experiences prior.

Thanks honey. :hugs: Yes, I was a bit until I reflected on Amanda and Jayden.

TBH, I also think many boys are lazier or more laid back in terms of development stages. I know Jayden was. LOL

Funny thing is, later on it was Jayden who did some things quicker than Amanda. Ex. Talking - Jayden was a chatterbox at 2 whereas Amanda wasn't until 3.

I feel like this sometimes and I shouldn't. Caitlyns baby friend can clap and he's a month younger, yet she only started yesterday when she copied him. I was worried untill then that I hadn't "clapped enough." But he didn't start crawling untill today.. They're all so different it's hard to remember sometimes x

I find that on here, Ally looks quite slow sometimes (in comparison to other LOs) but in my real life circle of friends, he's doing really well. It's not like they have to do things in a certain order either, there are some things which aren't 'official' milestones that I bet Chase is doing. He's probably just learning from his big brother and sister and one day will come out walking and talking!

good post leanne. i think we all compare our babies to others but need to remember they are individuals and there is no set time frame for them to do these things x i miss the newborn baby stage and wish jack didn't do so much so early x

This is a great thread, us mothers can be so competitive, part of the reason I have left so many forums. Until I found here I thought Dec was well and truly slow, but it turned out he was bang on, one forum I was on some of the ladies had babies that could crawl at 3 months walk at 7 months and be potty trained by 12 months !!!!! Lol But then I found BnB and ladies who actually tell the truth about their kids. Babies are so,so different and will do what they want when they want, when I really thought about my 2 boys it came to light, Dec was so quick and Dan a tad slower, Dan was just sitting by himself at 9 months and didnt walk until 12 months, Dec was sitting at 7.5 months and walking at 10.5 months.
I am so glad you started this thread I am sure there are a lot of us who worry about their baby's development. Hopefully this will put all our minds to ease xx You are GREAT !!! Lol

Very true, i've always worried about Bethanie not doing what she should be by a certain age! One thing i've learnt from having a toddler is that there is no rush and she will do things in her own time, when she is ready (and all that worrying helped nothing, because shes doing it all now.. talking, running etc). Im sure this won't stop me worrying next time around though. ;)

Brenn doesn't clap at all but I don't clap at him much as it tends to freak him out. Ha ha. We are working on waving. Next I want to teach him to blow a kiss.
I think as mamas it is so hard not to compare your baby to others. I have two friends who's girls are just days older and we all compare our babies.

Thank you for this thread

I know its not a milestone but I have been worring about how much Logan feeds and ive been comparing him to other babies his age and you have reminded me they are all their own little person !

Good post, i was just thinking this today, a lot of babies on here were already crawling and cruising around furniture at her age and she isn't, but like you say every baby is different, by the time they are 5yrs old they will all pretty much be doing the same stuff anyways.

Chase was born 13 days after yours. Honestly, he's not anywhere near crawling and cruising around furniture. LOL

Definitley Leeane. Jack still isnt potty trained, and tho i often fret about it, i know that he will do it when HE is ready, not when i force him to or pressure him to.
I was talking to his nursery worker the other day and she showed me his assessment chart, which, according to the average child, jack should be in pants by now. I dont think there is such a thing as an average child - a child will develop in different ways and at different times, and thats ok as long as they get there one day. Worrying wont make them do it quicker.

sorry for sticking my oar in yesterday

you are so right though...

courtney cant roll from her front to back and i dont think she will ever lift her body off the floor to crawl properly!!

My friend and I remind each other this all the time... her LO is 10 and half months and she doesnt have any teeth and isnt crawling! I think we beat ourselves up sometimes thinking we are doing something wrong.. but like you say all babies are unique and grow in different ways :)

:hugs:

i feel abit bad now cause i know u mean me, but u did ask............
