rent arrears advice needed

hi i am in arrears with my rent and i have applied to housing benefit in april and i havent heard anything yet i took al info they need and landlord says hes evicting me wot can i do? I am worried i am 25 weeks pregnant

have you called housing benefit to see what the hold up is? the good thing is that they will back date it from when you applied but i think the best thing you can do is go down the council tell them that you are preg and are being evicted take any proof of that that you may have and they should be able to help! my friend was in the same postion she was preg and in arrears and single and what they will do is tell you to wait it out in your property because your landlord will need to go to court to get the baliffs to come round and change the locks your landlord will then inform you of the date in which they are coming and then you take that to the council and then they will either put you in a mother and baby unit or give you the option to stay with a friend or relative until you get a place. this is how it was a few years ago it may have changed slightly but im sure it will be along the same lines or they can give you names and numbers of landlords that will except housing benefit. good luck hun.

how late with your rent are you?
have your received a section 8 or 21 notice from your landlord?

have you checked the terms in your contract?

i ask because the landlord cannot serve a section 8 notice unless your at least 2 months late with your rent.

can only serve a section 21 notice to end no earlier than the end of your 6/12 months fixed term, or to give you 2 months notice if the tenancy have been in place for some time.

check the terms in your tenancy honey, a visit to the citizens advice bureau would be useful to you as they will explain your rights and the rights the landlord has.
