Hi all, I am a FTM who is definitely planning on breast feeding. I'm trying to decide whether I should rent a pump or buy one. I can afford it and it would be nice to have my own. The problem is if I do buy one and hate it, I'm stuck with an expensive investment that I can't return. Any thoughts?

First, I would see what you get through your insurance company.
Second, I think it depends on how often and when you plan to pump. When I looked up renting I found it was going to cost at least $80 a month, that was half of the medula pump in style advance I got (30% coupon). I started pumping at 4 weeks to build a stash. Then went back to work at 12 weeks and pumped multiple times a day for the next 7 months (yeah summer vacation!). So a good pump was a must.

No insurance here. :-( And 80 a month...yikes. I might as well buy one at that rate. Did you like the Medula? I was leaning towards Avent but still on the fence..
