Repeat S/A

Hi all!
I don't post very often, but I'm always lurking and reading all the posts. So, my DH finally went for his repeat S/A and results were much better than before:
count: 21 million/ml (was 9 million)
Motility: 50% (was 30%)
Normal Morphology: 60% (was 55%)

My question is this; what is a considered a good level of normal sperm morpholgy? Everything I've read says at least 15%, so I figuered 60% was good...but my doctor said he should only have 10% abnormal. He has finally referred us to a specialist, but the clinic is 2 hrs away and with DH in school right now and me in a newer job, getting time to go there will be tough. Do you think we have any chance of doing this naturally? We will be trying IUI next, but not sure when we will be able to get down to clinic for consult

Hey miss marls, what fantastic news! Have a google of the world health orgs guidelines I'm pretty sure your results rock. We were told to aim for 20-99 million count, at least 50% motility and at least 30% morphology. With this amazing improvement you could possibly conceive naturally surely? What did the fs say about natural conception ?x

My doc told me that 15% normal was what you wanted at least but I think that is with the kreuger scale. There are 2 different way to measure I think. My DH has only 10% normal sperm and the doc said that getting him to %15 normal would be ideal. I think on the other scale having at least 30% normal sperm is ideal. SO you should be great for morphology!

Rachelle, I haven't spoken to the FS yet...my appt with regular Dr. was yesterday and they were sending my referral that afternoon. I'm curious to see what the FS has to say...he's also the same FS my sister went to and she got pregnant pretty much right away. (By the way my little nieces who were born at 28/29 weeks are doing AMAZING...lovely wee girlies)

Those are pretty good numbers.....there are two scales they measure morphology on - the Kruger Scale and the WHO scale. Most fertility specialists don't use the WHO scale they use the Kruger Scale which is a lot more strict.... Anything over 30% on the WHO morphology scale (which is definitely the one they've used) is good. So you're in the clear. My DH has strick Kruger morphology of 4% and motility of 40% - mind if I ask if you've done anything to increase his numbers?

We haven't really done too much, last year he was taking Maca and multivitamins but hasn't in about six months! I think the major change was his job...he's back in University and presently doing an internship (mid-life crisis) at a golf course so he's eating well and smoking less, but the major factor was that he was a glassblower and would spend 8-10 hours a day in the stifling hot glass shop! I think he was probably cooking the little buggers. He still goes in the shop but only for a few hours at a time and not every day anymore. This S/A was about three months after he started the internship so the timing makes sense...oh, and no more scalding hot baths for him (although this did result in alot of sulking on his part). All I can say is not to go by one S/A and try the Maca and Zinc for sure, alot of people see a vast improvement with it .

Yes she was a beautiful girl! We just lost her at 14 years old to cancer in January and we are still absolutely devastated...I miss her everyday

We have a puppy now...she's adorable but trying my patience at the moment by harassing the cat!
