Retroverted uterus, tips for ttc?

Hello all, i found out a couple of years ago that i have a retroverted uterus through a scan. We're not ttc, but i'm just wondering who here has a retroverted uterus, and what are the 'best positions'etc?

edit: We are now TTC (Feb 2013).

I have and it's actually quite common. It didn't cause me any issues when I had my daughter. I conceived first month and gave birth normally. I didn't find out I had one until I was expecting her. I have a low cervix, but I'm not sure if that is related to having a retroverted uterus or just me

I have one........and it's Doggie Style!!! Thats the position of the week for me.

Along with some pre-seed, i'm in for a messy week.

I've been inspecting mine all week & i'm thinking doggie is possibly the better option anglewise.

We will find out I guess

they say doggy style of from behind depending on the angle of tilt etc, mind is pretty much backwards and has caused problems etc

Mine is tilted backwards.. have you had trouble concieving at all? xx

yes TTC 3years 5months with PCOS, one tube, backwards uterus, blood problems & sperm allergy, so i have a few reason why have not conviced.

Just wanted to visit TTC again as spotted this thread! I have a RU and TTC for 7 months using so called "recommended" positions. On month 8, we ignored everything, binned the thermometer and my gorgeous Mr Bump was conceived almost certainly with me on top!

Relax and it will happen hun x

thats good it doesn't mean you have to do it anyone can get pregnant in the right timing etc lol. with my son i wasn't on top so i dunno its all about timing and sperm etc lol. and what you feel comfortable with i hear softcups and preseed can be useful but not done much for us yet.

I'm giving the pre-seed & doggie a go this month so i'll let you know if it works.

I'd love to relax or at least pretend, but i'd secretly be kidding myself.

Hey there,

I have a tilted uterus and was able to easily conceive 4 kiddos. Number 5 is proving to be more difficult, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with my tilted uterus. I think a tilted uterus *can* affect fertility, but I think in most cases it doesn't. Good luck!

nah prob not but people with tilted uteruses are said to be more at risk of miscarriage and that they said that was reason i had problems and why my son took so long to implaint.

sorry didn't mean to scare you hun was just told that was why i had miscarriaged they don't know for sure but i know it was the reason james took so long to implant but mine is pretty bad, alot of people have this problem and its nothing to worry about.

My mum had a tilted womb, she didn't have a mc, had 3 healthy kids

yeah as said depends on the degree of tilt etc, plus they said that before they knew all my problems. i have read that it can cause increase risk though but then i am unsure for def how reliable that is. some people are just more prone to these things i am sure sadly i am one of those people.

Hi i have a ru and i have had it all my life, i have 3 children and am ttc #4 this is my 4th month ttc, but i have had 3 healthy children and they were concieved with me on top, and on the bottom so im sure it doesnt really make much of a difference, the only thing that i had an issue with was when i had a mc they had to do the procedure 3 times to clean me out, until i told them i had a ru and that they should use a camera, so i dont really think it makes a difference, but my doctor did say that sometimes after having a child the uterus fixes itself but that never happened to me, but apparantly it can happen, good luck though spreading lots and lots of baby dust your way

I have this and never new it could be a problem, I have pcos and when I went to see the specialist he was more concerned with the pcos?

yes because the retroverted uterus often doesn't cause infertility on its own. although can cause problems in pregnancy and cause like pains during sex etc. but PCOS can cause infertility on its own. the retroverted uterus can often be normal and not cause any problems but some people like myself have it really bad mine is very far back and causes alot of pains, and they suspect it caused my miscarriage and my son was late implanting which was caused by the UR.
