Reuben?

We finally found a boys name that we both quite like! What's everyone's thoughts on Reuben?

It's pretty uncommon here but not totally out there weird if that makes sense? How would you all pronounce it (we say roo-ben) and what spelling is better - I like the Hebrew spelling Reuben but my partner likes the European spelling Ruben. The way I see it, mines is the oldest spelling and therefore the correct spelling!

My name is Hebrew/biblical so it is nice that we like a biblical name - our girls name is biblical too!

I love Reuben and we had it on our list but didn't like any shortened versions so have crossed it off. I agree - your spelling is better!

It's a great name, I know four baby Reuben/Ruben though! So popular around my area, but it is a good one I like the spelling Reuben best!

I like it I'd definitely spell it Reuben too.

I'd say it the same way as you, and spell it Reuben. Quite like it as a name.

I'm south east uk, my best friend has one, two Facebook school friends and one in a baby class we go to oh I met a fifth at a first birthday.
My son is Finlay which isn't that high on the popular list I've met two Finlays and two Finleys though!

That's really interesting, I know loads of Finlay and Findlay and Finleys but absolutely no Reuben's!

Baby is a girl anyway so the issue is kaput now anyway lol

I have only met one Reuben and he was 5. I love the name and would spell it the traditional way too.

Also it's a type of beef sandwich in the states, hubby (being a chef) just can't shake the association lol xx
