Hi i was just wondering if anyone was Rh neg?? My anti body levels are rising somewhat rapidly, my consultant is either going to do a blood transfusion before 34 weeks or induce, and then give a blood transfusion to my little boy. Any help or anyone who has been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry i've never had to deal with this but i didn't want to read and run, i hope your levels stabilise out and that the blood transfusion works weather it be before your lo is born or after, keep us updated so we know how you are. xx

sorry I haven't had this happen to me. But I am RH neg and LO is +. THey just gave me the rhogam shot before she was born and there was no problems regarding this.
Good luck hope LO doesn't have to come early :hugs:

sorry though i am + and Ellen is - she was born before i could have th shot or any other problems happened. Have they given you the jab? did they explain how soon they would make any decisions?

My antibody levels were rising from the start, they started to become concerned about 23 weeks, as the anti D injection is given here at 28 weeks it would have been useless (closing the gate once the horse has bolted so to speak)

I see the specialist every week now to have a scan where they measure the speed of the blood flow on his brain to monitor if it is getting any quicker, last week it was starting to quicken meaning his blood is becoming thinner and he is becoming anaemic - this is due to the elevated amounts of anti c and anti d antibodies my blood is producing -which are attacking little ones red blood cells

Hope i explained that well enough for you to get a jist, everyone i try to talk to friends family etc just look at me blankly, pat my hand and say dont worry!!! :dohh: How can i not worry??!!!!

:hugs: oh sweeite, I'm so sorry you must be having a horrid time. I'm rh- but have been fortunate not to have any problems. At least you know the doctors are keeping a really close eye on things and will be prepared to take whatever action they think is best for your LO. I know this doesn't stop you worrying and having been at high risk of going into premature labour I know that it can be so frustrating when people tell you not to worry. At least now you are past 30 weeks and every day your little boy stays in there he will be getting stronger. Thinking of you :hugs:

Thats the thing, the longer he stays in there the weaker he is getting, i am basically treating him like a virus and attacking his red calls. Thats why they want to get him out before term

Feel like such a failure that my body is rejecting my baby boy

aww hun don't feel like that. It's not your fault! Nature has a funny way of working..Just try to relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. I blamed myself alot for Angelynn's early arrival but than I just realised that it's not something I could have stopped or prevented. Everything happens for a reason :) I hope he comes out strong and healthy. Stay tough mama :hugs:

We just tried so hard for him, we have had 3 losses and i wish we could just have a 'normal pregnancy' but it's not to be.
The main thing is getting him well once he is here, so i know i need to be strong for him. Hospital again at 10.30am on monday so i will keep you informed.

Fingers crossed and thanks again for all you lovely kind words x

Levels had risen slightly when we went on monday (results from previous blood tests) the scan was ok and he is no more anaemic than he was, still no definative plan of action but just the green light for another week, which is good, had another blood test, the results will be back on monday and i am back at the hospital on thursday morning at 10.30am. x

Hospital just called, my levels have hit 11, i have to go in for my appointment on Thursday morning and be sedated for my little boy to have a blood transfusion through the womb, my consultant is on holiday but is calling me on wednesday to discuss the procedure, if they can manage my antibody levels untill 34 weeks then they will induce and deliver my baby boy, i really thought we could manage to get away with this, i just hope and pray he will be ok x

what do qou mean whef you say qour levels `ave reached 11 etc plz????? mine (diff situ i know but just interested) are at 256 and should be under 35... (anti-lub levels)

I know its not quite the same situation, but I am 2 days ahead of you, and may need to be induced. My L/O has IUGR (intro uterine growth restriction) in other words shes very small, they dont know what has caused it, my others were all fine, hopefully there is nothing underlying wrong with her. I have a growth scan on 29th december, if the doppler readings are low then she needs to come out asap, otherwise they are going to keep an eye on me and take it a couple of days at a time. So anyway, I know what a stressful time you are having and how worrying it is to possibly have to have a prem baby. xx:hugs:

Ahhh sweetheart i sympathyse it's awful, i am having my bad days and good days at the moment, although trying to stay optomistic, hoping that helps as i have little other control over the situation!!

:hugs: I am sorry you are going through this. I am RH - and am getting testing done to see if I built antibodies up when I was bleeding earlier in this pregnancy. My Doctor was NOT happy the ER (A&E) did NOT give me the Rhogam shot... as you know it complicates things
