Its official, no matter when i ovulate luteal phase remains 7-9days.
I ovulated on cd19 this month and got giddy thinking my cycles had sorted themselves but no, that is not going to be the case, right on que i started spotting slightly yesterday and more so this am, so i reckon by tommorrow ,AF will have arrived.
Im so fed up of this now, seems no matter what i try nothing helps, ive taken B6 which justmade my cycle 46 days but didn't change my luteal phase, ive then taken Agnus Castus for the past 3 months and i thought it had regulated my cycles at 32-34 days but it seems it hasn't. Not sure whether to carry on with this or try Vit B complex now.
I know my next appt is a month and a bit away now and i need to be more forceful but my consultant just fobbed me off last time about my luteal phase and i don't know what to do if he does that again as that is clearly the problem :hissy::hissy::hissy:

:hugs: I am sorry, Hon. Next time you see your doctor, be very firm with him. If he still doesn't listen, can you try a new doctor who will listen, maybe?

:hugs: Good luck, Honey!!!!!!!!! :hugs:

i don't know if i have that option as he's an NHS Consultant and I don't want to delay things further

I totally understand. If you really are worried about him ignoring you, maybe write out what you want to say and give it to him so you do not forget. (Like, list out your concerns and the evidence you have and make him look at it... if possible, of course)

GOOD LUCK!!!

yeah i could do, he told me to stop charting and using my cbfm and RELAX!!!! could have punched him really, so ill feel naughty going in with my charts but i will, im determined that he does something!

Oh sweetheart I'm sorry (although could I throw the implantation spotting thing out there? or is it def. AF?)

I found that my first appt. with the NHS they fobbed us off and told us to go away for 6 months and just BD every other day (even though we had already been doign that for 18months) - however at my next appt. they were much much more helpful and I went in armed with knowledge and asked for the tests I wanted - and they said yes.

i really think the NHS prob. gets alot of people lying that they are having problems / it is taking over 12 months - I know of a couple of girls (not my friends Id like to add) who had lied and gone to doctors after just 4 - 6 months - when there was really no need to cos they had regular periods etc - and after taking one of the precious appointments (the clinic for my area has fertility appt. only one afternoon a week) they got pregnant naturally in a matter of weeks!!!

so anyway - i think that they are poss. told to fob people off the first time - just to make sure that they definitely arent lying and that when you have the second appt. they will take you seriously.

i have also seen a different consultant each time - so you might have someone different - who is more willing to help you? I really think going armed with knowledge is helpful.

I complained in my last appt. that I was spotting from 10dpo and have ridiculously v light periods and that this was worrying me - at the previous appt. they had told me it was nothing to worry about - but this time he agreed to give me a lap and said that he would arrange for me to have an ultrasound in my luteal phase to see what was going on - so obv. now aking it serviously.
I think partly it s a lottery to see which doctor you get - but i really think me talking about luteal phases and actually asking for a lap because I as worried about endo made him realise I knew what i was on about and he acually helped me.

I hope the month goes speedy fast for you sweetheart - and that you get the answers and help you need.

Heya Lew - sorry to hear the spots got ya again. What I don't get is the total difference in medical opinion over here. Have they not even mentioned to you taking progesterone supplements? For me, the doc was quite happy to put me on them even without prog. tests because he thinks the symptoms of spotting (and short lp) are absolutely related to not getting pg... The pills I take are even available otc here without a prescription and I know a lot of women take them after self-diagnosis. I read Bulgarain ttc forum and almost everyone takes them for spotting/short LP. xxxx

It must be different here cos ive not been given anything, despite going to my Drs frequently in the build up to being refered to a specialist

I really hope so hun, im feeling depressed about it now, other months ive not been too bad, AF coming didn't make me wanna cry, i was just dissappointed, this month its different as i ovulated at a normal time and thought i was in with a chance. Im still spotting but this is the normal pattern, ill wake up tommorow and ill be in full flow, happens every time now. Im gonna mention to consultant mid cycle spotting and not leave until they do something about my luteal phase. My GP never did any progesterone tests as i was ovulating so im gonna insist of something like that to check my progesterone levels.

God that really annoys me! The healthcare system is supposed to be better in the UK, but they don't do anything? I could walk into the chemist tomorrow and get you a month's supply of progesterone and post it to you! xxx

I agree with Sarah hun, i think you should write a list of your questions and where you want to go/what you want doing and take it along with you. I know sometimes it feels as though theyre fobbing you off so just be firm. I remember at one of my ultrasounds the lady proceeded to say "well everything appears ok, looks like your going to have to let nature take its course" Eeeer i dont freaking think so!!

You just get into that "firm" mindset when you go and everything will be fine hun :hugs:

Sorry you are spotting again loopy ... I think its a good idea to go to your appointment with a list of questions and concerns. At least that way you can tick off your concerns and write down the consultants responses.

xx

I've just had a quick look at your charts - and there is no way they can ignore this - you are spotting when your temps are still high and obv dont have a long luteal phase - stick your charts under their bloomin nose and demand help.

aghhhh - it makes me sooo mad with the NHS that they treat us like this - i know we are not dying or anything - but we put our bloomin 40% into the state each bleedin month and then cant get the help we need. :hissy::hissy::hissy:

I really feel for you hunni - the countdown to my fertility appt. was agony - i tried to fill the time in as much as poss by planning nights out with the girls etc... but nothing made any difference - it was still hanging over me. The week before I dreamt about it every night.

Is your DH ready for the fight as well - I had prepared mine before hand that I wanted a lap done and we werent leaving till we got it - so he was ready to step in with my demands if i broke down in tears (which i have done at every bloody doctors appt. recently).

Bx x :hugs::hugs:

thanks girls, i am going in more determined this next time as these last 3 months have been a nightmare waiting and i know somethings not right like you say Beckic. I know as soon as the spotting starts that the cycle is over. My consultant told me to stop temping etc and bd on day 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 clearly not listening to a word i had said. Ill take my charts in with me again and show him that there is an issue!

Hi there, what a couple of the above posters has said about progesterone is completely accurate. On my first IUI cycle that I did au natural (without injectibles), my RE noted that I'm a late ovulator and because of that I would have a short luteal Phase - and immediately put me on progesterone. I take a natural progesterone suppository twice a day right starting right after my ovulation and IUI. EVen though my second cycle (current) I'm taking injectibles and ovulated right around the CD14 my RE still has me on the progesterone just as an extra precaution. In fact, once I know I"m not pregnant in a cycle I have to stop taking the progesterone so that I will get my period. My Dr. also told me that low progesterone is the cause of many unexplained miscarriages so consequently when I do get pregnant I will be on the progesterone for the first trimester. I can't believe that your Dr. wouldn't know that. You said 'consultant' though and I'm not sure what that means. Is the person you see a Reproductive Endocrinologist? Anyway good luck getting your hands on some progesterone! And good luck next cycle.

Obviously, we can't diagnose you but I would certainly give this a go - it can't hurt to try them!

yeah if he does nothing again im gonna buy some Progesterone tablets myself and/or use the cream.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this already, but I also did need to take progesterone for the first trimester when I was pg because I had a threatened miscarriage. I had shots for a week too, then carried on with the tablets till the 2ndtri. I am convinced I would have lost my baby without the prog.

I think I'll be asking my mother to bring me some progesterone tablets from BG when she comes to visit next month...the NHS is just a waste of space. It's the first time I'm getting this strange brown/pink spotting at 7-9 dpo!I guess there's always a chance of it being an implantation bleeding, but I wouldn't get my hopes too high -it's been 18 months now since we started trying. Tested on days 8 and 9 and it was negative.

You never know hun! I fell with my second after 17 months of trying and didn't test positive till 15dpo. However, it was the month that I stopped taking progesterone supps that I fell!
