On 1/5/14, my little girl entered the world. After 15 hours of labor, meconium in my amniotic fluid, and crying my eyes out when my epidural wore off at 9 cm dilated - I finally did it.

Most of my time was spent waiting to dilate - as my cervix had a lip that wasn't cooperating. I managed to make it to a 7 without an epidural, but was glad I did have it for the 5 hours I was waiting to get to 10 cm as I couldn't take the contractions!

We had a few scares when I was in labor - she didn't like the contractions and her heartrate was sort of whacky - dropping somewhat low when I had one. But never dangerously where they felt the need to get her out right away. I did receive oxygen to help her though. When she was born, they tried to handle her as gently as possible as they didn't want her to breath in anymore of the amniotic fluid than necessary as she'd passed her first stool in it. Turns out there was more than they'd originally thought, and my baby girl wasn't crying when she entered the world. Her APGAR score was a 2 (but jumped to a 7 when she was off oxygen.) It scared me immensely and I kept asking the nurses, "Is she okay?!" "Why isn't she crying?!" Although they'd warned me it may happen. My baby girl was cleaned and put on oxygen - to everyone's delight she only needed it for about 5 minutes and then she was breathing on her own. I didn't need to be cut, and only received one stitch as OH was out of the room. To hear she was okay was the biggest relief of my life.

She was 19 inches long, 6 lbs 5.7 oz. I had so many doubts at first and throughout my pregnancy, but they all flew out of the window as soon as she was here. I knew I'd love this little girl with every drop of my being forever. :)
