ROFL- little boys response to learning boy part/girl part names

My aunt was telling this story over the weekend about my cousin (who is now 18) She was explaining the difference between girl parts/boy parts and teaching them penis/vagina ... My little cousins response was

" BAGINA?? Dats the funniest word I ever heard!!"

Last summer, my neice (who was 4 at the time) was over at our house just before I was giving ready to give our son a bath. I stripped him down and she saw him naked. She had clearly never seen a naked boy before, because she stares at it for a while (even bending over in front of him to get a closer look) and then oh-so-innocently asks, "What is that... thing... hanging in front of him?"

I told her its what makes him a boy and her not having that is why she is a girl. When she wanted to know what it was for, I went for the simple explanation and told her its how he pees. He was only one at the time!! I didn't think I'd have to have THAT conversation with a kid for at least another five years!

Lol, but vagina is an ugly word, haha

I don't mind "vagina".
It's the other words- labia, clitoris, vulva- that I find kind of embarrassing to say.
Not that penis, scrotum, and testicles are exactly pleasant, either.

I don't know why we can't make up our own English words for these things, instead of using icky old Latin words.
