So girls, my DH went for his second S.A today. As we live quite far away from the hospital, DH has to wait til we get there and produce a sample. First time round, he just went and found a private loo in the hospital and got on with it.

But today he couldn't find the loo and so asked to be shown to the 'sample room'. One of the staff walked us half way round the hospital and then gave us a map!! And where did this map take us to................................

THE FRIGGING MATERNITY WARD!!!!

I couldn't believe it!! Am I just going overboard or is this a bit insensitive?? Obviously the maternity ward is locked, but I had to stand outside the locked door whilst all the pregnant ladies walked by and I could hear the new babies crying!!

I just wanted to shrivel up and die. I was literally standing on the outside, looking in at what I couldn't have. Just feel a bit sad

OMG that is shite (sorry not very eloquent!). Absolutely awful!:hugs:

Hospitals appear to be oblivious - my friend had to have a termination due to chromosome probs and she had to stay in overnight... on the maternity ward. Nice huh!

Oh that is awful. People just do not think

Oh hun :hugs: i would have been very upset to, that's just cruel. XXX

:hugs: Thats harsh. I used to work on a gynae ward and we had people in miscarrying in the same ward as people having abortions. Too cruel!

Thats harsh, next time say he needs a number 2 im sure they will direct him to the closest toilet!!

When i M/C i was put on the womens ward i was thankful not to be on maternity! i really feel for you hun xxxx

That's so insensitive. When I go to see the gynea I have to share a waiting room with all the women going to ante natal clinic and I get so mad and upset. Hospitals have got it so wrong.

Oh my that is insensitive!
Is there any way you can write and compain about it? At my ACU they have comment forms for things like that.

It was very similar at our ACU. It was on the same floor as one of the maternity wards so there were babies and flowers and happy people all over the place.

So many times we'd get in the lift after an appointment and there'd be a baby. Aaarrrggghhh!

Why do they do it?!

id definately complain hun, i think thats totally insensitive!

The sign at my hospital in St Albans that points you in the direction of the clinic looks like this - seriously - I am not joking:

ANTE-NATAL
MATERNITY WARD
SOMETHING ELSE CLINIC
fertility clinic

It is honestly written in tiny letters compared to everything else - THAT is how important we are ladies.:hissy:

Rx x

thats the same as when i went to see the infertility clinic this month, its in the maternity unit so theres all the pregnant ladies waiting for scans and to have their babies and theres me and OH wishing that was us, so horrible :(

Thats harsh, next time say he needs a number 2 im sure they will direct him to the closest toilet!!

 Ah that made me smile.

So it would seem that this appears to be common practice in NHS hospitals. Even if I did complain it would probably take about 3 years for somebody to actually read it lol.

Thanks for all your support, good to know im not alone xxx

A close friend of mine lost her baby very late on....20something weeks, and they brought her and her husband in for the post-mortem results and left her waiting in the middle of the ante-natal clinic. She was devastated and yet had to cope with all these happily pregnant women waving scan pics around.

I think they ended up complaining and got an apology, but its just not on that hospitals treat people this way.
