Hi ladies,

I have been TTC for almost a year. Long story short, I came off the pill in June 2012 and since then have had ~19 day cycles!! I had 3 normal cycles of 25 days. I had bloodwork done and am not ovulating. Before I went on the pill (YAZ) 5 years ago my cycles were usually always 24-25 days long, I once in many years had one short cycle, but did have a few 6 week cycles here and there.

Has anyone else experienced such short cycles? I suspected PCOS but my gyno said my ultrasound looked normal and is not convinced. I am in despair, and have my period ALL THE TIME. I spot before and after my period, and I counted for the month of May I will have spotting or bleeding for 16/31 days of the month. I have started on 100 mg of B12 and B6 this cycle to try to increase cycle length, although I know I'm not ovulating so I don't know if that will help anything.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do, or any stories where something similar happened and their cycles sorted out? Is this still due to the pill?

Please help me, I feel like I am totally alone and have been on the verge of tears, if I'm not already crying, constantly for weeks.

Hi im sorry you are going through a tough time of it. I would ask the doc whether you could have some bloodwork done to see whats happening with the hormones. It could still be from the pill some bodies just take longer to adjust than others. But i would def go back to the doc and ask for some blood tests to see how your hormone levels are. I hope you get a resolution soon. Good luck!

try something herbal....such as chasteberry vitex....google it...be positive..Baby dust

Thank you so much for your replies! I really appreciate it!!!

I agree that I would like to know what my hormones are up to! My gyno checked my thyroid, prolactin levels, and FSH a few months ago and they were normal. Am I wrong, but that doesn't seem like a very thorough hormone check? I asked her this week when I saw her if we could do a more thorough check of hormones or at least a repeat test but she said it wouldn't help anything anyways.
She says she wants to give it more time and to come back in 2 months, and if my short cycles continue she wants my DH to get his sperm checked, and if all is clear there then we will try clomid.
She has also sent a referral to a FS for me but there is a 6-9 month wait time to get in.

Being patient is so hard! Also if one more person on my facebook announces a pregnancy I am thinking of deleting my fb account.

want2bmomy, thanks for the idea of taking Vitex! I am definitely going to give it a try!! :)
I'm also scheduled for acupuncture next week to try to normalize my whacked out hormones. Does anyone have any success stories with this? I'd also like to know if it is not worth trying.

Baby Dust!!!

I have sort of the same thing going on. I had a MC May 2012, and since then my cycles have been shorter. 22-25 days. I just had a 21 day cycle, and my RE doesn't think I'm ovulating. I DO know that my hormones are not balanced. My estrogen is low, as well as my progesterone. It took day 3 and day 21 bloods to figure that out. My FSH is completely normal.

I just got started on Femara/trigger shot/progesterone supplement cycle, so that was the first thing my RE wanted to try. I've heard raw maca powder can help balance hormones, but I haven't had any luck with it.

I have wacky cycles and lots of spotting btwn periods. When I started TTC, my cycle was around 25 days and oving around day 17. So oving but really short LP. I did acupuncture a few months back in the fall and it made everything much more regular. I usually have a 28 day cycle and ov cd13 or 14. Recently after doing clomid and progesterone my cycles are a little out of wack again so I'm going back. Anyway I highly recommend acu! It's super relaxing too!

ESwemba, I have my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully your RE helps sort out your cycle!
PinkPeony, thanks for the reply about acupuncture! I hope it helps sort out your cycle again. My appointment is tomorrow so I'm feeling really positive and hopeful. I'm also a little bit nervous, I have no idea what to expect!

Maybe you could try soya isaflavones too it worked for me and ovulated great. You take it e same as you would clomid CDs 2-6

All the best
